One of the OSU lineman offered up some bulletin board material last week about how the SEC defenses are not in shape for a high-paced offense. But the question can be returned to them: "How is their defense's conditioning?"

OKSU are going to try to up the amount of plays run during the game. They score faster but their defense stays on the field longer. I'm convinced that there is no drop-off with our first and second team defense. But how many times can their defense hold up after drives of 5 plays or more with limited rest? When the opponent controls the ball for almost 2/3 of the game? The more plays that the offense runs conversely means the more plays that the defense plays.

Here's their time of possession from last year and results (they sure don't play well on the road.):

That Kansas game sticks out to me. Maybe its an outlier, but our offense and our defense is much better than Kansas' and that was a 20-12 game that Kansas should have won.

I think we will score 30+. Whether that's enough is the question. It wouldn't have been enough in 12 of their 13 games last year.

He's right.

But their offense lines aren't conditioned to play SEC defensive lines, and their defense lines aren't conditioned to play our offensive lines. I'm not saying we'll win, but that was a dumb thing to say. Apples and oranges. Fletcher was beating out DE's in strength and conditioning tests at the combine...

This really is a simple equation. Run the ball, and score touchdowns. Keep their offense off the field. That's really it. Unless you have a defense good enough to catch them in the backfield, which I don't know if we do or not.

Kansas game was played in inclement weather on natural grass. The field conditions slowed them way down... Needless to say, we aren't going to be able to capitalize on such an event in Reliant...

While we're running it and scoring touchdowns, take a lot of time doing it.

I think we gameplan for a run-oriented offense. OSU's strength is the secondary. State's weakness is at WR. We have a stable of hungry RBs. But has the OL run-blocking improved? Utilizing the TE more should help.
