I think it's great.

I have a friend who has his PhD in Sports Administration and our conversations often towards to gov't getting involved in sports. He always says that in the next 10 years we'll university athletic department lose their federal tax exemption.

I know it's a little off topic, but the BCS is <17> from top to bottom, and it's a system that isn't going to fix itself. Maybe this will nudge them (NCAA, BCS, University Presidents) in the right direction.

Why would you complain about that?

Let's get them on board to make a bigger clusterf* than the NCAA could even imagine.

I'd rather him be meddling in the BCS system than focusing on taking over the health care system and finding another segment of the economy to bail out and take over. Lock this baby down!

one on this board that wanted to see a playoff in college football. I dont think that would ever happen w/o pressure like this being applied (think steroids in MLB)..

Also, it's not like this is the first time the Govt has gone into sports. Again, Steroids, Title IX, public financing for sports venues are all examples of the Gov't being involved in sports already..

College football is a business. Destroying the bowl system would greatly reduce the dollars that go to the schools.</p>

The less time he spends trying to enact economic legislation and health care legislation, the better it is for all of us.

For once I wish our government would sit back and try its best to do as little as possible. That's what we really need.

If anything, I think we should go the other way...only 10 regular season games a year, no conference championship games, as many bowls as possible (none of which determine a definite national champion), and 7-8 teams declaring themselves "National Champions".

Feel free to devote all your time and energy to the BCS. If you spend the next 3 years going after them, I won't complain a bit.

Sincerely,

SPD

/Stops his progressive agenda
//Focus on sports = not focused on Obamacare, Cap & Trade, Stimulus 2 (Jobs Bill), etc.

is it illegal for the NCAA to come up with a way to determine their own Champion? Whether it makes sense or not.

If the NCAA has done anything wrong, it's allow too many teams in D-I, and therefore some that go undefeated don't have a chance to play for a Championship.

My solution for the NCAA and Mr. Hatch- separate D-I into BCS and non-BCS. Only the BCS teams could play in the BCS bowls. The non-BCS teams play for the D-I-B Championship in Boise, Idaho- showing on ESPN 8- The Ocho.

Maybe then he would appreciate the BCS more.

wasn't the biggest dolt to occupy the Oval Office. Hey, things are great for me right now. A year ago, not so much.

JS your political insight is amazing. Could you clarify the second half of that pathetic dynamic duo that you vaguely referenced. If memory serves she was the evil female Prime Minister of England that was incompetant and brought divisiveness to the theHouse of Lords? What was her name? Certainly a man of your intellectcan recall it for those of us undereducated MSU grads.

In the future, please read more and post less. And stick to sports- thanks much.

Try all you want, this will be my only post on the subject.
