Official: Israel turned to Trump to head off UN resolution
Israel’s prime minister turned to President-elect Donald Trump to help head off a critical U.N. resolution after learning that the White House did not intend to veto the measure, an Israeli official said Friday.

The admission marked a final chapter in the icy relations between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Barack Obama over the last eight years, and signaled an era of close ties between Israel and the incoming Trump administration.

Read the article. Obama's given more to Israel than any President since Truman.

Those on here that insist Obama's approach to Israel was weak and that he abandoned our ally might want to read the above article. I think many of you have fallen for the same divisive rhetoric that you say you hate.

With all due respect, that is an opinion piece, I can provide many counter arguments. He betrayed Israel with the UN abstention that we now know Obama ordered. His Iran deal is also a betrayal of Israel in that it will lead to Iran getting their nuke while at the same time giving them money to fund Hamas to kill more Israeli's. He wanted to revert to the 67 borders which is another betrayal. Israel cannot defend itself with those borders.

In 2003, Obama attended a celebration of Rashid Khalidi, a radical PLO supporter. Obama made a speech which was recorded. The LA Times has that speech but refuses to release it? Why would a news organization not release something as important as this? The answer, to protect Obama.

Obama also had to keep the Jewish vote for the Dems. So he provides aid to Israel to secure that support. Then when he is leaving office and no longer needs their money or support, he stabs Israel in the back at the U.N. He hated Bibi and has antipathy toward Israel, imo.

According to the right, Obama was the anti-christ. Obama made a concerted effort to treat EVERYONE living in Israel equally (Palestinians and Jews). I like the idea myself, but it can't be done without causing carnage.

Anytime it's pointed out that someone from the left does anything good....you say it's a lie to get votes. I really hope Trump works out for you and the nation, cause if he f's this up like I think he is capable of doing, the pro-left / pro-dem backlash will be substantial (unless the GOP start the distancing from the get go).

And according to the Left, Obama was the essence of Christ. Obama does not like Israel. His actions prove that. He was a political animal, so he could only go so far, until he didn't need Jewish support any longer.

It is said perception equals reality. While not necessarily true, Israel currently perceives the US as
anti-Israel. Close enough for Horseshoes and Thermo-Nuclear War.

Something to be said that he made that move right before a new administration took over. And say nothing of the increase in aid over the last 8

He needed Jewish money and votes. Pretty simple. Then when he no longer needed them, he stabs Israel in the back with an abstention that he ordered followed up by a Kerry speech that even libs lambasted as completely one sided.

Again, why won't the LA Times release the speech Obama made in 2003 regarding Rashid Khalidi? No reason for any news outlet to withhold news, right?

Military sales does not constitute support for Israel. It constitutes support for US defense contractors.
Good point, Dog. It also lessens the work (troops and equipment and money) we have to expend in that region, since Israel will do a great job militarly of protecting our anti-terrorist interests, as well as keeping the Suez Canal open for commercial shipping.
And, yes, Obama has pursued many policies that were not beneficial to Israel, as well as keeping Israeli government at more than arms length. Our relationship with Israel is not what it used to be, should be, or needs to be.

Calling Obama the antichrist is giving him way too much credit. He was a horrible president who did nothing worthwhile but beyond that he was just a demagogue who destroyed the democratic party.
