His drive's are much better controlled and his touch from short and mid range much better than earlier in the year.

We should get him the ball whenever we are in a drought.
Agreed. He has been playing at a high level. I no longer cringe when he has the ball. Heck, I want him to look to score now. Cam and Andre should be scoring options 1a and 1b.

He is. You're right. I would just like to see him be more consistent on scoring those bunnies. I sometimes think he should dunk those and not play the angles off the backboard. Either way, I love the way he has stepped up.

I’ve been a bit critical of Hyatt over the past couple of years (specifically his defense, bad turnovers, forced shots earlier in his time here)….especially when some folks wanted him getting more than 20-25 minutes…but he’s certainly taken his game to another level at a crucial time and earning his minutes.

His defense and rebounding have gotten much better. He’s cut out those bad turnovers and he lets the offense come to him.

He’s aggressive. Paul could learn from him.

I think he likes starting. Even though he did great with the sixth man role, these kids have egos and starting is a big deal to them

He’s a starter next year. He could be a 15pt/game guy. I did not think I would be saying that a month ago. Keep it up Andre!

one one of those Field of 68 podcasts, they had Geo on and he was talking about the Mag loss and that is was enormous, what struck me what Geo said...he said Hyatt is a guy who comes in looking to score, but as a starter he has to adjust to the idea of being the 4th or 5th option, not the scorer. It was an interesting comment and I think Hyatt was more a team player today than I have ever seen.

Agree with comments above. He can be a dual threat scorer - from three point land and driving to the hoop. And the rebounding is huge. I think he and Spencer will dictate how far we go the rest of the season.

Not sure who will start next year but it us a nice
Dilemma to have. When Mags come back and we have Andre, Gavin and Cam, it opens up the inside for our center or guards to attack the rim more often.

And some on this board thought he’d would not amount to much. I could see from the beginning that he had talent but was a little rough around the edges.

Outside of one immediate/quick shot in the 2nd half, his game looked and felt like Mag on both ends of the court. He drew a critical charge on Wahl, down 3 points and under 3 minutes left in the game. The Simpson drive bailed out what might have been an ugly late possession, but Hyatt bailed out RU with the tip in.

It's not as if I felt Hyatt was still a little bit of an outlier, but with Caleb and Mag out, it felt like Hyatt arrived as a complete RU player today. The 24 vs Nebraska looked as if RU just needed points and 3s that night....today we discovered another piece of the puzzle.

Bac mentioned the Geo aspect of what your role is as the 4th or 5th option is why I respect Geo and his knowledge of the game. Mag was the perfect glue guy in that 5th option role. With Cam taking the right approach and aggressively looking for shots, the order now makes Hyatt and his role perfectly. You never want to discover new roles and items this late in the season, but Hyatt, Simpson, and even Oskar/Reiber got knocked around and bounced back.

He was aggressive and effective rebounding today.
As was posted by another. I think he is totally embracing the opportunity to start and feel like he's getting the role he deserves (not saying he has been disrespected. Just that HE feels he's in the right spot and its resonating with him). He and MAG are the two I saw battling and committing to improve all year). Shame we can't have both right now trending up into the end season.

I also see Cam being a self-motivator who will push thru whatever is there to get better and achieve. If we can get Paul, Cliff, and Caleb on that page again we'll be a dangerous team like earlier.

Cam and Aundre are our best shooters. Hyatt had no threes today, only took 2, which is surprising.

Id much rather see Cam and Aundre shoot threes than painfully watch Cliff force low post moves away from the basket.

Catch and dunk only for Cliff, unless he can receive a pass in the lane close to the hoop. At least he didnt shoot any threes today.

Only managed to catch a few glimpses of the game as I’m away and the wifi at the resort sucks, but noticed a ton of effort out of him on the defensive end.
