  • It looked, especially early, like they were trying to start a fight after every play. One might say it's the homer in me seeing UM players as the instigators, but after watching the replay it really did seem like every little extra-curricular engagement was initiated by the Bear players. As a team they just seemed completely undisciplined.
  • RK had one solid run and UM should have left it at that. The gimmick backfired on them big time down the stretch and I'm surprised they went back to it twice later in the game.
  • That was the most inspired play from a Mississippi State defense that I've seen in a very, very long time. Hats off to Calhoun, Jones, Whitley, and the entire linebacking core. While it's true our offense didn't fare much better than theirs, Our State defense was utterly dominant. Forced four turnovers and another two that we didn't get to keep. If we can bring back that kind of intensity then 2014 could be a very special year for us.
  • I'm utterly baffled that the Bear offense never took a single shot downfield. Their longest pass on the day was 22 yards but without checking the tape I'd be surprised if that didn't involve a good bit of yards after catch. They seemed content to constantly throw into the flats and run up the gut.
  • Someone besides Lewis needs to be returning punts. I love him as a receiver but he's the one that got us backed up inside our 10 and ultimately lead to UM's only TD. Holloway returned one punt for 20+ yards and I'm sold. Let Lewis do his thing in the offense. Get him in on some more sweeps or bubble screens, sure. But he doesn't have "it" when it comes to punt returns.
  • Williams did well enough to keep us in the game, but we would have lost without Dak. If Dak had been in the whole game this thing wouldn't have been close.
  • What a difference a year can make. It feels damn good to finish on a positive note and hopefully we can go out victorious in our bowl game.

I would like to add that Lewis has made some very clutch catches late in the season that he dropped early on. He has much improved as a receiver in my eyes.

Our defensive line was pressuring Wallace all night. Last year, we got no push out of the d-line and Wallace was able to pick us apart. This year, you had Chris Jones having a statement game and the rest of the D=line and linebackers just PUNISHING them. Wallace had no time to throw a decent long pattern, especially one down the middle.

I sure didn't see what you did, we threw at him so much and he got no separation and had some critical drops, even late in the season like the Bama game.

I think WR was the most improved position group on the team as the season went on. You could argue secondary could be as well. I thought before the season our WR would be better than people thought. They still have some drops. A pretty good bit, but they make plays too.

OM has forgot to feed Moncrief all year. Instead, they throw short to Treadwell over and over.

market had one of the biggest plays in the game. "5 foot nuthin, a hundred and nuthin" came out of nowhere and stone-cold dropped the media darling dead in his tracks as if he was shot out of a 17ing cannon. market played like a 17ing MAN last night. it just makes it that much sweeter he grew up right down the road from the plantation.

Market is one of my favorite players. Anyone who had the balls to lead South Panola in the dawg pound rock when he was there is alright with me.

I've been saying all year Holloway should return every punt and kick. After seeing Lewis catch that line drive that was headed into the end zone I don't want to ever see him field one again

Agreed with all. We kept saying in DWS "at some point they're going to start taking some shots" but it just never came. That is the benefit you get when you don't have to commit extra guys in the box against OM.

Agreed on Jameon. Well past time for a change there.

I didn't say he caught them all or that he had separation all night. He still has work to do as a receiver. I feel like he has improved over the course of the season. 6/94 1td against Arkansas and 6/68 against UM. He dropped gimmes early in the season and yes he has had drops late in the season but he has made some much needed catches as well.

He made catches in the game tying drive in the fourth:

Believe it or not, he's our leading receiver with 55/703 and 5 tds. I'm not saying he should be our goto guy but I have more confidence in him now than I did early in the season.

All of his numbers were down over last year, with touchdowns cut in half.
If anything, he should be targeted more this year, not less. I see that as Treadwell taking away touches, and he's just not as explosive.

I had almost given up hope. I said from day one this team shoulda woulda coulda beat okie state. I kept telling folks this team would be a good second half of the year team. I lost faith hoping. BUT FINALLY, they did what I predicted although a little late. The Def is starting to show what they are capable of. With Dak growing every snap, we see what the future can be. My lingering concerns are the constant running of a small back between the tackles instead of getting him in space and using JROB to punish the middle (like ARK). Also DROPPED passes and special teams. These HAVE to be addressed. Last year I predicted OM would win by three touchdowns, I just had a feeling. This year I said wallace should carve up the secondary BUTTTTTTT......I had a feeling. Had no idea we could shut their pass game down like that, although i KNEW we could shut their small back (sound familiar) running game down. Just want to say, INCREDIBLE GAME. Hats off to Nikoe, playing hurt along with Tyler last week. Chris Jones who had something to prove and did (ya think he heard all that #1 recruit crap) and did. Coaches for FINDING A WAY TO WIN. Congrats to all.

I agree about Lewis on punt returns. He shouldn't be doing it. He's gained confidence catching the ball as a receiver but he doesn't seem confident in the return game. He doesn't have great hands and catching the ball is job #1. I think that's why he has made several judgement errors on returns. He is worried about a drop and would prefer not to field it all. He's a good player but we need someone else with great hands that will make the right decisions, even if they're not as explosive.
