Our OL is still terrible. No holes for JJ to run through.

Thorson looks slow to me. I know his timed speed was supposedly quick, but he can't run around the edge even when it looks like he should be able to get to the corner and turn upfield.

Our WR can't get any separation from defenders at all. There was some blown coverage from the Duke Defense, otherwise we just couldn't get open at all.

I hate that we miss easy field goals. I just not a fan of Mitchell's. Too many missed chip shots...

The OL's pass blocking is problem #1. Softest sets I've ever seen.

Ohio State and Michigan State are going to blow us up. We'll see how we do against "lesser" teams like Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin. Today was a nice win, but I don't see how this team wins five more games this season. Hope they prove me wrong.

Thorson is clearly an athlete, but he's not overly athletic. I hope that makes sense. He's a specimen and he's fast, but he lacks the ability to run with vision and anger. He goes down way too easy for someone with his talent and size.

Also, the Read Option just isn't working with Thorson at QB. Defenders aren't keying in on him as a credible run threat and know that he's going to make the pitch. Duke blew that play up all night, no matter how many times NU tried to execute it.

OSU and MSU are blowing a lot of teams up. OSU might be one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the country. No shame in NU losing to them at their house.

I agree. Just trying to guess at how many probable wins are left on the schedule. It's NU football, so I'm sure they'll surprise us along the way.

Even before the season, when expectations were running high, pretty much everyone had OSU, MSU and IA pencilled in as L's.......

For sure. We'll definitely be big underdogs in all three of those games. I'd say the Iowa game is the best chance to win, but given how our last two games with the Hawkeyes have gone, that may not be true.

Who knows with this team. I have no idea what will happen next week against Nebraska. They just beat Oregon and looked pretty stout on defense.

He does well on draws and sweeps. He still doesn't have a handle on option plays of any variety. They should be out of the plan.

I bet someone at NU can put together a solid AVERAGEIF and show negligible or negative yards per play on options over the last 16 games.

I don't know how offen QBs get better at option plays - it's possible you have the knack or you don't - but CT has not improved this part of his game much.

This despite the fact that OSU lost a ton of NFL-level talent and returned only 6 starters. That's amazing. Urban Meyer is the best coach in the game. And yes, when you compare the number of starters returning for NU to OSU then it would be shameful to lose to OSU.

Trying to pick out individual variables that make losing to OSU "shameful" seems a bit absurd.

But great shame in losing by 9 touchdowns. Which I think is the hidden fear. At least it's mine.

Typical post. Not a single positive mention. Some people love misery.

So you'd rather that he make up positives that he didn't see to satisfy those who want a faux-sense of balance from every comment?

Wow, that's the dumbest yet most brilliant, yet nicest but nasty thing I've ever heard...
