  • Since they arrived in 2004 our 4 year offensive ranking average is 109. Over that stretch, that is third worst in Div 1 ahead of only Duke at 113.75 and Florida International at 117 (FIU only D 1 for 2 of the 4 years).
  • So far this year we are 103 and Duke is 43.
  • Using Vandy as a realistic expectation of a floor benchmark...Vandy's 4 year average is 72.5
  • Notable teams on the sub 100 ranking list for 2004 to see how much progress can be made in that amount of time: Kansas (100), Washington (103), Penn State (104), East Carolina (105), Clemson (110), Kentucky (115)
  • Teams that had 2 or 3 years during that stretch with similar rankings: Buffalo, Syracuse, Temple. All hired new HC or OCs after those years.
  • During those 4 years our average total defense ranking is 35.5
And we give him a raise.

I don't have a problem with the raise. We're in the SEC. We have to have that kind pay budgeted for our coach; or should I say next coach.

The problem with it all is he's still here, supposedly coaching AND we extend the contract.

And we are in the SEC. We have the ability to draw athletes and coaches of a caliber to have us ranked better than the bottom 99th percentile in the country.
Why does being in the SEC obligate him to SEC type money if he can't produce SEC type results?

Because of anything it shows soon to be coaching candidtates that you are willing to pay your coaches money that will compete with other SEC schools

I see your point. However, I'd rather handle that in a private interview and job offer letter, and leave the public examples to showing that we'll fire your *** if you consistently suck and refuse to change your ways, by firing our OC after an 8 win season but a 4th consecutive sub 100 offensive ranking.

But I am an ultra competitive, results oriented, cynic with a pre existing bias against the current regime.
