Saw recently returned a 1000 tickets to lsu. Not sure about the others. It's not like the old days. Because of TV and cost, people just don't travel like they used to.

This will be commonplace for the foreseeable future, not just for us. People don't have the disposable income to travel to many away games and why would you pay such a high price to be where you need warning beacons for incoming flights? Many of these recent expansions have been to relocate the visitors and allow for better seats for season ticket holders.

Why go to away games? Spend money on gas, hotels, eating, tickets for crappy seats when you can just sit at home and watch it on tv. I don't think it's a problem just at State.

LSU moved the visitors to the worst seats possible. I think that's bad for...

the conference. Their own fans are going to get sick of paying tons of money for crap seats too. 18 of the 20th biggest football stadiums in the u.s. are college. At some point, the cost of tickets + terrible seats will keep people at home.

Not to mention, that even our home games are like away games for much of our fan base. I have to travel to Starkville, which now means flying through Memphis or Birmingham, have to get a hotel room for at least 2 nights for rates that are ridiculous, etc. I think this does affect our fan base more than any other.

I love road games, especially Kentucky. Keenland Horse Track is superior to Churchill Downs, the Woodford Distillery tour, and the almost certain skull dragging that our Defense will hand out, are all reasons if you haven't been, seriously consider it.

Lexington is definitely a rare combination of a cool place to visit, an opposing fan base that is faithful but not crazy, and a near guaranteed win. We've been to the last two games there, and we're going to try again this year.

Unless it's a fun easy trip like @memphis or Tulane or even this year like south Alabama - I've been to the SEC stadiums. Going every year doesn't interest me. Even OK state last year was a novelty. Spending $80-$100 to watch us at auburn doesn't sound like a blast unless we are at a point of the season we are rarely at i.e. 7-0 Alabama in 2012

Some of us spend less money on gas and tickets going to away games as opposed to home games. Example being me with salabama and lsu. Not that I don't go to home games too, but it's always cheaper when the team travels closer to me rather than me traveling to them.

I usually don't buy my away game tickets from the bulldog club unless I need more than a couple. I can usually get better seats at a lower price by buying elsewhere. Maybe others are doing the same? Maybe a combination of that with fewer people traveling?

Commonwealth is a very nice venue, too. I've enjoyed both my trips to Kentucky.

Thats not much different from home games for those of us not local. I now go to more road games than home games, it's easier to go to Nashville and Atlanta than it is to oxford. And far easier to get a hotel, and I know I can drink and use public transportation. Going to home games has gotten hard.

Regardless of all the factors, I'm surprised if we returned Egg Bowl tickets.

Then again you did say "almost all".

Also road tkts have gotten so expensive why pay that now when you can probably get a better deal closer to kickoff. I went to the aub game in 11 for $20
