NIU has one of the worst offenses in FBS and hasn’t hit 20 points yet this year, so us giving up 28 after they couldn’t move the ball on Holy Cross and Maryland would be disappointing.

Hmm. Our offense seems to be hitting stride. Defense is missing our lineman that went out against Arizona state, but I don't see them stopping our offense unless we stop ourselves a lot.
Ive heard a couple of pundits say "Watch out" because NIU beat Notre Dame last year, but that was a completely different team.

NIU beat Holy Cross 19-17. Holy Cross is 0-3 with losses to New Hampshire 19-16 & Rhode Island 9-7 in addition to losing to NIU. NIU was trailing Holy Cross 10-6 with 10 minutes left in the game. NIU is a bad football team.

The people who say that are the same ones who spent all Summer saying how USM is basically Marshall and Marshall would've beaten State last season.

We 1000% could have lost to Marshall last year, but the whole “USM brought over Marshall’s entire team” was always a myth.
Normally I’d say we better be on high asss alert, but these G5 teams just don’t have the talent they used to. It has filtered up to the P4.

I think I saw that NIU returns FIVE starters, and that most of the stars who made up their team last year transferred including some our way. They have no idea what they're talking about.

Northern Illinois wasn’t even that great last year. They went 4-4 in the MAC and 8-5 overall. Their win over ND was a complete fluke. And they returned five starters from that team. They are significantly worse than last year and we are significantly better. We will cover the 21.5 point spread.
Exactly the sort of reason why I wish NCAA would stop acknowledging the AP poll.
