in which Vandy can build a significant program, basketball would seem to be it. Why are they not a top tier SEC team in basketball?

I think it's mainly because they have to compete with Kentucky for players, at least historically speaking.

But they have been decent, never great, but always decent....Plus their facilities are awful.
