Quarterfinals!!!!!!!!! Here we go. This weeks upset is (again all apologies for the Feeto Curse) The Redhawk(skin)s of Marist over the Vikings of Homewood Flossmoor. I think this has Game of the Year possibilities. I've seen Marist play 3 times this season, and they are fantastic. The keys to the game will be #1 Marist QB Mike Markett. This kid does it all. He throws the ball well, but the way he tucks the ball and runs is very impressive. #2 Marist RB Billy Skalitzky. He runs with speed and power, and is always a threat to break a big run. #3 the 2 headed monster at QB for HF. I've never been a big fan of alternating QB's, and I think it will come up to bite HF in the rump tomorrow. I see LOT & LOTS of points being scores out in HF tomorrow. Final score.....Marist 42 - HF 35. That's this weeks upset. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

From what I’ve seen on the board this week I’m just hoping that they can compete. Doesn’t seem like warrens players are in the same league as Rice. Just glad they’ll let Warren take the field.
Your Devils are for real. They will do great! It will be a very close game.

Haha stop sandbagging. Anyone who has seen warren play knows they have the defense to compete against anyone.

It’s laughable when posters make statements about teams the have never seen play or maybe seen once.

In regards to marist game the key is to make the QB Throw! Yes he is capable but he wants to tuck it and run. (Which he is great at)

If I’m HF I have my best DB spying him.

I understand they have excellent receivers but pick your poison.

Agree with other posters Marist the more disciplined team wins in a close one.

I like the ESL Flyers over the MC Caravans at gately. Rematch from 2017 quarterfinals. Although Playing at gately and frigid weather conditions, the Flyers prove that they are ready for the big stage. All gas no brakes will advance.

It’s not an upset at all if ESL wins, they’re a huge favorite, but I’ll take the flip side and say the weather will benefit MC. 6 hour bus ride then playing in weather in this weather, it gives MC an advantage.

I agree, I’d take ESL -6.

1st big time qb Carmel has faced all season.
(Main south qb was injured during game. I’m under the impression he’s the best they’ve faced.)

In Illinois their aren’t many.

Actually how many D-1 QBs are even in Illinois?

Off the top of my head:
N central
Nazareth
Simeon (definitely more of an athlete than qb)
LWE: 1aa

KAR was all-state last year but will not play QB at ND.

High of 33 tomorrow. Night games will be played in the 20’s. This isn’t a 80 degree September night. Probably none of these young men have played in sub freezing temps very often, if at all. It will play a huge part. Fields will be slick. They don’t have heated benches and heaters like the pros. It’s going to effect a lot of games. Let’s hope for no major injuries.

Warren is bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic. A school with approx. 2,000 boys compared to BR's 650. Warren is the favorite.

So what are you thinking will go wrong?
Murphy’s Law is anything that could go wrong will. A fumble, a pick, a mistake....Defensively they look pretty even, but BR has more playmakers on offense with Bean, Summers and their running back (Plunkett?). It doesn’t mean something won’t go wrong that will swing it back to Warren favor. The weather could play a part.

Rice offense is good, but a very good defense could cancel them out. Also, that QB takes a beating by game's end in a tough contest, in the course of dishing some out in the process.. Defensively, Rice front 6 gives big problems to offensive lines that are not very athletic.

How is Warren favored. That makes absolutely no sense. Rice is #1 Seed in all 8A and won the catholic league. IDC about enrollment. Rice HAS TO BE favored especially at home. I think a Warren win would be a huge upset tbh.
