Morgan Park squeaks by Lincoln Park - Whitney Young against Simeon tonight to determine last CPS semi finalist on that side of the bracket. Currie and Orr play on the other side.

Headline in the Sun Times: “
Transfer Chris Roberts helps Morgan Park eke past his former team”
The Sun Times article about the Orr and Bogan game used the word "transfer" an awful lot too.

BELLEVILLE WEST-COLLINSVILLE MOVED TO THURSDAY

Due to the threat of winter weather on Friday, Collinsville and Belleville West moved up their Southwestern Conference game. The big-time showdown will be played at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Collinsville.

The No. 2 large school, Belleville West (24-3) is trying to keep itself alive in the conference title hunt. It had its six-game winning streak against the Kahoks broken last week. The No. 6 large school, Collinsville (25-3) has won 12 in a row. It hasn't lost since the finale of the Collinsville Holiday Classic on Dec. 29. (ESL=1, Alton=5).

Will stream here:

Down 14 or 16 in the 1st half Raiders storm back in the 3rd and take a 9 point lead in the 2nd half and defeat H-F by 5. Nice win, but they have got to start hitting free throws and shooting better from 3.

Currie and Morgan Park to play for CPS crown.

Here’s a list of CPS finals since 1903.

King was King when I was a youth - nice to see the constant ebb and flow of champs

Simeon had won the last four - only Marshall from 1958-61 has such a streak. And just a handful won two in a row.

Tons of history and talent!

I saw that list, it was interesting to see the scores basically in the 20's and 30's from the early 1900's until '46 where we start to see scores in the 50's and above. I wonder what happened in '46?

Would you say West is the heavy favorite to come out of E. Moline?

If they get past Collinsville, who is ranked 2 in the regional. I think the SW conference will have someone in 3a and 4a during the final weekend.

I haven't seen Waubonsie or Oswego East, but my Raiders should come out of East Aurora. If they play like they did most of the Evanston game, the 2nd half of the MP game (minus the TOs and FTs), or Springfield SE without our top player they should have a reasonable chance at Peoria. But if they play like they did against Simeon, or the 1st half of MP, or LWE they could lose to the 17 seed.

Basketball is tricky for High School kids. It doesn't take a lot to have a bad night. The most consistent team usually win.

I was glad when football went to 1-32 versus Regional format. This eliminated conference teams from facing each other in the first round. Part of meeting feel Basketball should do the same.
I agree 100%! That would make things much more interesting for the fans as well as the players.

They seed the sectional now. At that point, build a bracket. Currently they position the bracket based on location. I have never been a fan of a team that’s not a 1 seed hosting the Regional.

I like the basketball seeding process, but I also understand it's not a science. You think coaches could seed football like they do in hoops?

Another loss to LWE, but a whole bunch of DNP's coaches decision. This would make a football thread go nuts. Well, fellas this is it, playoffs.

Why would a coach sit a kid for Basketball? Momentum is huge for any sport. I have never liked going into the playoffs with a loss.

All 5 starters and first two off the bench. Only lost by 8 though for what it's worth. Not sure that matters since they beat us by more with the starters.

I agree though, basketball is a rhythm sport, never know when you will get it or lose it. But Coach has done a good drop of bringing the program out of the depths of awfulness so it's hard to 2nd guess.

Hard to believe Bones. It appears East has their number regardless of who set out.

18-12 West at half.

Alton scores two points in the second quarter.

Very aggressive D by both teams. Neither can hit a shot either.
