Congratulations to Joliet Central head coach Larry Thompson on his 300th win! https://www.jths.org/about/news/new...mpson-to-be-honored-feb-21-for-300th-game-win
Any word on if Liddell is playing?West and ESL streams tonight on NFHS.
They're not going to beat Eastside without EJ...Watching video feed, looks like EJ is in sweats again during warmups. No audio so no information on status and no news in local media from what I've seen since the loss to Collinsville.
Eastside probably won the conference this year last night. That's a huge feather in their cap as this is probably been the best the SW Conference has ever been. Collinsville certainly has the ability to spoil that, but you have to favor Eastside at this point.EJ had 20, 12 boards and three blocks - and theee missed dunks, and for sure one of those possessions, the Maroons did not get points. I think another possession, someone got a free throw and the last was a put back.
Those missed opportunities add up, son.
Deadly and physical in the paint - gets hammered like Shaq and still gets his. Should never take another three this season. That stroke seems broken.
Yes, I’m being hyper-critical.
He impacts the game more than anyone else this year. He is by far the best player in the state and should earn the same awards.
His game and body suited for Big 10 play.
Here are the Chicago Public League Tournament quarterfinal games:I'd love to match up the top four SWC teams with the top four CPS team this year. Each conference seeds their teams and I'd even stipulate SWC takes the even numbers ... set up the games and see who is playing at the end of the bracket.

STL area No. 2 large school East St. Louis (22-5 overall, 9-1 league) took control over the Southwest Confernce.
STL area No. 1 large school Belleville West dropped to 23-3 and 7-2 in league play.
Played teams from nine states - lose twice in the conference and still have to play Collinsville and Alton. Then CBC!
They look tired - hope they answer the playoff bell with the same ferocity with which they had at the beginning of the season.I think BW over did it with their schedule this year.
I agree. Scheduling good competition to get yourself ready for the post season is one thing, but if it's too much it can wear you down. BW may also not have anticipated the conference being as good as it has been this year.I think BW over did it with their schedule this year.

That's probably what happened.I’d have to think at some point after they won 4A and lost to no one in state last year with four returning starters and the start of the year, the schedule was made.
They must have already made their schedule before those games. lolNot sure when the schedule was made but, Over the summer BW lost to Collinsville and had to come from behind and win at the buzzer against ESL.

Right, I think they have 5 games left where most teams only have two games. 3 of the 5 are Collinsville, Alton and Chaminade. Hopefully this don’t come back to haunt them. They have to play Alton a 4th time and Collinsville a 3rd time in the playoffs. Talk about a heck of a season.
That's a good point. Looks like it's beginning to cost them though.I am sure what played into the schedule is this is probably an once-in-a lifetime opportunity to play this kind of competition, as BW is unlikely to have a team like this again for a long time.
They're not a Morgan Park, Simeon or Whitney Young which gets the chance to play some of the nation's top teams almost annually because the kind of talent they have year-in and year-out.
Stevenson beefed up its schedule for Brunson's senior year, although probably not to this extent.
Might as well go for it while you can, and hope the kids can withstand the rigors.

A bunch of consecutive tough games is...tough. The main thing would be to get healthy. In all honesty for a top team you probably have at most 4 tough games in a row in the playoffs (including the 2 in Peoria).
Morgan Park, Curie and Orr have advanced to the Public League semifinals. Whitney Young plays Simeon today (Wednesday) for the final spot. Here are the Chicago Public League Tournament quarterfinal games:
Whitney Young (22-6)
Simeon (14-13)
Morgan Park (23-3)
Lincoln Park (19-6)
Curie (26-1)
Farragut (17-6)
Orr (18-10)
Bogan (21-2)
EJ missed “the Jordan” dunk ...
29-6 at 6:55.
32-6
West JV playing now. 42-21 and OH my Goodness !!!! Some nobody for West caught a rebound from a last-shot three with one hand, above and behind his head and SLAMMED it home WITH AUTHOR-I-TAY!!!!
Coach was hollering even when they were up 10-2 two minutes in ... they played ferocious defense ... they moved the ball upcourt with pace.
I'm sure they ALL had a come-to-Jesus moment after losing two conference games in a row.
The season is still salvageable - but anything less than a title is disastrous, in my opinion.
