West up 28-25 at half.

EJ SCORELESS! Three buckets in the paint - three charges called. He’s got four blocks, steals and assists, but he’s getting Shaq’ed ... because his butt moves yours, it’s a foul.

Randolph’s first game in almost a month - dropping passes, turnovers, getting beat .... then ... he explodes for nine in a quarter and was EJ’s outlet on triple teams. He’s not losing rebound battle either.

Donavan Clay from Alton is a baller! Taller than EJ ... maybe. Might be the braids.

Five charges taken by Alton ... this is a very physical game - airborne in the lane, there is a lot of banging.

Based on tonight, Clay looks like the best in the floor ... but West playing him heads up. EJ has three on him unless he’s 25 feet out.

West up 45-38 after three quarters.

Thanks, that's probably the first HS Basketball game I've seen in 25 years.

Good game, but both teams need to work on shooting from the charity stripe. There were also a lot of charging fouls, I'm not sure if that was physical play or Refs calling it close.
Kinda an ugly game. Refs likely called right because it’s a repeat game and earliest in the year. Alton has the brawl ... my guess is they wanted right reins.

Simeon lost two in a tourney yesterday - teams from TN and MS. Currie lost to Salesia, CA, in Paducah, KY. It was their first blemish.

Streaming from highland, ESL and Bloomington at 1:00 and at 9:00,West v Vashon, the prep version of a Bragging Rights game.

If my nfhs still works I'll check those games out. Cancelled it last night, but should be good till the 10th.

West Beat Vashon 79-72.

EJ with 26 points, 12 boards and 6 blocks.

Had a self alley-oop off of the backboard for a dunk that brought the house down.

It was one hell of a game.

Alton beat Maine South 44-33.

East Side tops Alton but Donovan Clay sounds like the player of the game.

The 6-foot-7 jumping jack finished with 27 points, 17 rebounds and blocked five shots.Terrance Hargrove was tasked with checking Clay much of the night. “It's hard. He can handle, he can jump, he can do it all,” Hargrove said. “You have to guard him honest and play hard against him.”

Vashon visits East Side on Friday.

I must say this result shocks me - the Flyers looked disinterested last weekend ... terrible body language displayed too.

Clay played well for Alton. He has stepped up with the leading scorer out.

Were they full strength when they played the Flyers earlier in the year?

I was disappointed in how they played against Bloomington.

Not full strength but the leading scorer was there in the first game. The overall results were the same (close to a 10 point win) but the point distribution was different for Clay.

The Bloomington game took a bad turn early in the 3rd quarter which had not happened all year. In High School you never know what you are going to get so the let down was less shocking. They have appeared to move past it by handling Alton at home. Interesting to see how they handle Vashon tomorrow night.

That will be a test. Cam’ron and Mario are stars and there is a great supporting cast.

I heard West offered and home/road with them - turned down.

They (Vashon) typically want to be home first on the home and home. West handled them better than they handle E. Side which was surprising to me. You never know about high school hoops.

Their resume is just as good as anyone else, so it will be interesting to see where the line between men and boys lies.

Can't find a stream though.

Finally saw my squad after a long break. Looked good against a decent Joliet Central, and now the big games are coming up with H-F on Friday, Evanston on Saturday, and Morgan Park on Monday.

Got my popcorn ready.

Sun Times seemed to have crown MP as 3A kings last week ... let's see what Alton and ESL have to say about that.

I'd love to see two SWC teams win titles.

Is Alton 3a? I didn't know that. I can definitely see two teams from the SWC winning a championship this year. Belleville West, Collinsville, ESL and Alton are all amongst the best teams in the state this year. Aren't the brackets set up in such a way though that will essentially eliminate each other at regionals? In other news, if you follow wrestling, there was a big match last night in our area between Edwardsville and CBC that had Evill winning 36-27.

Yes - downstate only gets one rep while CPS can have multiple entries.

Don’t forget SE Springfield is in the south - the best teams may not be at March Madness - some may be home.

The game is starting to get away from Belleville West halfway through the 3rd. Down by 12.

Make that down by 18.
