OFF Topic, but am I the only one lost on this Superbowl halftime show?

I loved it, but I’m an 80s kid and 90s teen.

I’m guessing if you’re somewhere around 40 and didn’t live under a rock from 1992-2002 you probably enjoyed the halftime show.

If you’re older than 50 and didn’t like rap when it began, you probably didn’t like it.
Well, I’m 37 and didn’t watch because I don’t generally like rap. I’m assuming I wouldn’t have liked it, much like how I wouldn’t have watched/liked a country music halftime as well.

A time-honored tradition: old white people watching a halftime show they know they won't like just so they can ***** about it and show how out of touch they are with the real world.

A truly horrible take on this topic. Especially when you choose to drag race into it. The discussion is about music and talent and what passes for entertainment.

Goodness, some of you need to loosen up!! Quit taking stuff so serious. I don’t like Rap at all but I’m open enough that I can still enjoy things like last nights half time show but not particularly care for Rap. Most of you are truly miserable people.. lol

I guess for me it's not as entertaining watching people way past their prime as it is artists in their prime.

- Dr Dre, Snoop, 50 cent, Eminem, Blige, etc...they are all in their 50's and probably 30 years past their primes. For example 50 cent...has put on some serious weight and looks like more 65 cents as he;s carrying 15 extra pounds :)

- I would have said the same when Rolling Stones or AeroSmith were halftime headliners....they're just not the same as they were in prime. Maybe Prince was the only one well older that was great.

The better halftime shows were Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, etc....all of which were in their prime artists and they were hot at that time.

Rap is something I just don't get why people like. Sort of reminds me of yodeling or playing the spoons. People do it and apparently like it, but I can't see why.

I feel the same way about most modern country music. I find it to be repetitive, derivative, lowest common denominator pandering, but millions of other people would likely disagree.

Everyone has different tastes.

Absolutely freaking right. Modern country is the worst **** to ever happen to music. It’s worse than disco was. Modern country artists are basically grifters (except for Tyler,cp, and sturgill).

Agreed. Although EAAAAASSSY there with the "30 years past their prime"

I was getting my threads mixed up, my bad. Somehow SB halftime discussion got added to the thread on teaching in Indiana schools...
No I don't but even if they did have parent representation it they would ensure it was equally divided and they would have enough control to still provide those things. Did you watch the Superbowl? It was like it was being broadcast on BET. The whole theme was equality. The lady who sang America the Beautiful? Black. The Lady who sang the National Anthem? Black. The guy who gave the pre game prep speech? 1/2 black. Coin toss? a white woman. Halftime show? All black singers and dancers except M&M who thinks he's black. That is the world you live in and unless you can find a hot tub time machine it's not going to get better anytime soon. The woke culture train has left the station on it's US tour and if you get in it's way they will run it over you.

So I guess the standard is only those that liked that crap are allowed to post their opinion? If you didn’t like it you’re “out of touch” or an “old white guy”? No double standard there! I don’t care much for country music either. Anyone want to criticize for that too? I’m s classic rock fan. If that chaps some butts, I don’t really care. I think rap is crap, but it’s OK if you like it. That doesn’t mean anyone else has to.

I was watching it with my wife loving every second of it (both born and raised in the 90s) telling her I couldn't wait to get on her and inevitably find this thread and it's comments. The posts have been exactly as expected lol

No, but one can have a specific opinion that is out of touch, like the types of opinions I cited.

What would you do differently? .. It's a game played by 20-30 year old players and classic rock bands are just too old to perform.

You can call last nights event "rap".. but in reality, it's "pop". Those acts were the biggest names for anyone who is 20 to 50 years old. I'm sorry that the 60+ crowd "didn't get it".

Only to you apparently. How is an opinion that the show was crap out of touch? That’s blatantly dumb. If it was a country music show and someone posted it was crap would they be “out of touch” as well?

Again.. if you want it done right, just have Bruno Mars do it. You're not going to please everyone if you pidgeon-hole it to specific genres.

So just put Bruno Mars out there, with that asian boyband and Katy Perry with her big ol titties.
