Ended the season with Jason David, Usama Young, Roman Harper and Josh Bullocks in the secondary.

Open 2009 with Darren Sharper, Roman Harper (at SS, not FS like 2008), Jabari Greer and Tracy Porter. and don't count out McKinzie.

the saints problems at safety have been their undoing of late.

Now if they can just draft an OLB who can get to the QB on a blitz, I think the saints will be serious contenders in the NFC.</p>

It sure would be nice if the reports of Dan Morgan being 100% healthy are true. Fujita, Vilma and Morgan would be a pretty damn good starting 3. Even with Morgan back, I say trade down in the first, pick a LB like Laurenitus (sp?), pick up a second rounder and with a little luck pick Pegues in the 4th & learn from Sharper for a year.

Sammy Knight was old playing for us, and he still made plays. I love the signing. Kevin Kaesviharn and Josh Bullocks made harper look like Ronnie Lott and Harper sucked. That D-Line has to get some damn pressure this year. We signed DT Paul Spicer to a 1 year deal today too. We brought in a bunch of new players and Gibbs scheme still didin't work. Gregg Williams may be the best FA we got for the defense. Now at 14 we can take the best defender available if we can't drop down and get that extra pick or 2.

I also don't care about the age. I just want to win and if he can help in the short run and also help bring along some of these younger guys I an for it. I think that NO looses a few early draft picks this year? If so that could mean one less position to have to worry about.

I like the short term thinking behind this move.

How he is still playing ball is beyond me. He was hell when he was healthy and I enjoyed watching him play but it seemed like he suffered from a concussion every other week.

but right now, off the top of my head, I know the deals for Brees, Bush, Colston, and Shockey all go thru 2011. Short term is the priority. I'd much rather have Sharper on top of the depth chart and perhaps get a Colston-esque FS in the draft on Day 2.......

Or any other white linebacker to play outside for that matter...

Perhaps I've watched a little too much of Shanle these past couple of years. If Maguala isnt there, then i would trade down or take the CB/Safety from Ohio St.

Good move, Bullocks/KK were awful. And I hope they're not counting on Morgan. If he shows up, its a bonus, but I'm not expecting much. Randall Gay is a serviceable cb too. I think you gotta draft the OSU cornerback (Jenkins?) if he's there. At best Sharper's only gonna give us a couple of years, so we still need young db's. Not sure about his contract, but would cutting David loose free up some cap room?
