I'm afraid not. Sumlin is one of if not the best offensive coaches in college ball. His offenses are always going to be top flight.

I mostly agree here. But how can we account for the Kingsbury factor?

I did find it interesting that they went alot slower last year without Kingsbury, who had called plays for Sumlin virtually since the beginning... Now that they are going to have a more traditional QB, will they go even slower? They didn't with Keenum -- but they slowed way, way down when they had a less experienced player at QB...

aTm actually ran two fewer plays than we did last year.
Texas Tech ran 1135 plays, #1 in FBS, @ 5.85 ypp
We ran 956 plays, #39 in FBS, @ 5.91 ypp
aTm ran 954 plays, #40 in FBS, @ 7.34 ypp

In 2012:
We ran 848 plays, #86 in FBS, @ 5.85 ypp
aTm ran 1025 plays, #15 in FBS, @ 7.08 ypp

I think they possibly slowed down

just to help out their D.

And, I'd be surprised if we could match their O production.

That wasn't the question. Will State's offense be top flight? Dan has shown he can't run a pro offense but can put up some insane numbers given his personnel.

Your question was 'does anyone agree that msu will gain more yards than aTm.
My response was 'I'm afraid not. Sumlin is one of if not the best offensive minds in college football. His offenses are always going to be top flight.
How is that not an answer to your question? Here's a question for you, do you think Dan Mullen can recruit?

I failed to see anything about MSU in your response.

You're "top flight" label fails to reassure me that his offense won't continue to produce worse numbers than his offenses with Kingsbury (Keenum/Manziel) - 50 ypg less in 2013 than 2012. Did I mention that the SEC has some of the best - if not the best - defensive minds in college football?

They will have a significant number of inexperienced players - albeit talented players - in skill positions. Their schedule is considerably more difficult than 2013. The opposite is true for MSU.
