I have been told by a reliable source that HUDSPETH is interviewing tomorrow with Dan for the OC position.

DII NC game he barely missed (played in his home stadium). Rode back on a plane from DC tonight with a lady whose grandson scored 4 TDs in the other DII semi-final last week (Minn-Duluth). Might have to try and catch some of the game tomorrow.

I thought I was told that Hudspeth runs the flexbone or the triple option. Am I wrong about that? Because Mullen is gonna hire a guy who has run his style spread offense not Hudspeth.

Yeah I was about to ask...What kind of offense does he run? I've heard his name thrown around a bunch but dont really know anything about him

But I think Hudspeth is a spread option guy. I knew he had a QB a few years ago that threw up GAWDY numbers and won the "D2 Heisman"...

I think he is. But they switched to an option attack after losing a QB to injury mid year.

Your just stuck in croom mode its ok and steve jobs eats puppies and is rude to the elderly. Apparently the only way to win in the sec is to physically impose your will by running dives 6574 times with inferior lineman over and over again.I'm just afraid we wont have enough character to win with this new fangled offense of ours.

The thing is, Hud is a spread guy. But I just think if Mullen is gonna give up the play calling, it would be to somebody he has worked with before that knows his system.

I may be wrong , but that would make sense. Plus Mullen just fired his OL and WR coaches. If Rockey is moved off the field ,the RB coach job is open, too.

If Hud has any ambition, it would make sense. A pay raise plus the fact he would be making a name for himself in the SEC. Hud needs some D 1 experience if he wants to move up.

No seriously I think we'll be fine running Mullen's offense next year. Look at the similarities in our personnel and his now:

Tim Tebow=Tyson Lee, check
Percy Harvin=Robert "One knee" Elliot
Demps=Arceto Clark
Rainey=Delmon Robinson

Ok I cant do this with a straight face anymore.....we gonna suck next year!

I think the most important hire will be the OL coach (maybe Huds would do well there)... if not Huds hopefully we can get one who can actually look eye to eye with his players without a step ladder?

So in other words:

He improvised, he adapted, he overcame...

there are some highlight videos of North Alabama. They are a spread team, and their spread looks very similar to what UF runs.

Also, as far as o-line coach- Art Kehoe.

He'd be an idiot to come for any position less the OC. What other position did you have in mind?
Head coach at a Div. II school to position coach in a BCS conference is a promotion. If offered, Hudspeth will come for any position we offer.

Seriously guys, Div. II is a much lower level of football than many of you apparently imagine.

Edited to add: I would have no problem at all with Hudspeth coming to MSU either as a position coach or as offensive coordinator.

Look at Malzahn. The guy was coaching HS 3 years ago and is now a very successful OC. If a HS coach can transition that easily, I would think a D-II coach could transition just as easily. It's football, not chemical engineering.

I literally just graduated with an engineering degree. But you don't go from D2 to SEC ball in less than a year. If I designed your building, you should be worried. If the equivalent was coaching our football team, you should be worried.

and did a pretty damn good job of it until Nutt's inner control freak came out and they went back to the conservative offense. Good coaches are good coaches, and for the most part, the level doesn't matter. If Malzahn can jump from HS to SEC OC, then Hud can jump from D-II to SEC OC.

Hud was at Navy, Urban/Dan studied with Johnson/Navy as Urban incororpated option into spread. Said when he asks DC's. "what's the toughest offense to defend, they all say option". Could be a fit!

And Arkansas's offense got better after he was demoted in mid-season. And for all his "success" at Tulsa, they've never been able to win their little pissant conference, although they did win it a couple of years before he got there.
