Article from the State which brings up the age-old question of whether the poor offensive production through 2 games is more on the play calling or the execution: https://www.thestate.com/sports/col...h-carolina/usc-football/article312013887.html
The writer highlights 3 apparently good play calls from the SC State game which were poorly executed and could have been big gainers. But that's 3 plays from an entire game. Even with a great OC and excellent execution, over the course of any game an offense will have 3 plays that missed. I'm not sure that fully exonerates Shula.
So, I dunno. Reality is probably a mix of both.
We are still run heavy, being nearly 2:1 run/pass through our first 2 games. Don't know why. With a supposed Heisman contender at QB, I'd have expected us to toss it around more than we have been. Lack of confidence in Sellers? Lack of confidence in our WR? I suppose we can hang onto the age-old excuse that we are keeping the offense vanilla until we get to a serious game...though I can't remember a time in our history where that has actually been the case.
