SMU,I know it won't count, I just want bragging rights when it happens. I got caught up in my bourbon and missed the cutoff.
No I did not know , but if a pick is put down hours and hours before the game is played then what's the harm? If you want to win the contest by technicality then have at it,.......but ithats weak ****. I don't watch Thursday or Friday games because of work issues etc. Saturday is for college football,...Thursday for elementary school, Friday's for high school.
Complaining like you are over a game that red puts on every year and I'm sure takes lots of time every week so people like you could have a little fun is the only thing weak in this thread.

This contest has been going on for a long time in some form or other and picking a game winner 6 to 7 hours before fore kickoff should be sufficient, but I guess 7 hours ahead is running it to close. Hopefully after the gators just rubbed our nose in the dirt we can find some technical way of weaseling out a win......like this.

There is a reason why he has to do it this way, it is not a technicality.
Picking the winner even right before the kickoff used to be fine because I spent time writing code to check the time you posted and/or edited your pick against the actual kickoff of your game. Then the new update happened to the web site and they no longer post the edit times separately and I can't easily check that any more. Someone could edit their pick after a loser and I couldn't tell. The best I could possibly do is monitor the picks and put in marker posts that tell me when games are in progress for an evening. I'll think about adding marker posts. That would let you add picks when games are not in progress.
I don't want a contest that someone can cheat and win. If you posted late before and didn't edit it, I could tell and keep your pick. The new format eliminated the original post time so now I can't.
I'm probably going to wait until tomorrow to post the next contest. We are missing odds on some games that are of interest. Also, I'll probably include the Thursday games but have the entry cutoff be Friday night's games. I'll do that by monitoring the predictions Thursday night. You can wait until Friday to make your predictions.

Dang! When did that come back in? I see in my last post an original post time and an edit time. I'll have to investigate... We may be back to entering at any time up to kick off. I know it went away for a while. If the original post time stays as well as the edit time. I'll try to update my code to track that again.
If you get it lined out you can see I made my pick for a 7 pm kickoff around 12 noon Saturday. Not sure what you need to see in order to prove that.
