GAME THREAD Official Game Thread -- WVU vs. Western Kentucky

Yep, last I checked this team was preseason 13, in the B12, played in conference championships back to back years as well as two Sweet 16s. Buffalo and WKU should be viewed as "cupcake."

That makes no sense at all. We play in the Big 12 title game last year so that makes WKU and Buffalo cupcakes this year....gotcha.

OUT-COACHED in every game this year. Don't know what is going on with Huggs, but this team isn't "fun" to watch and I'm sure coach. But it is his job to do so, and he's not because we are still making the same stupid mistakes with the same lineup in there in the first three games.

Hilarious that tickets are priced $82 and up for Pitt game and $135 and up for Kansas. Who would pay that per ticket minimum. That’s peanut heaven top upper level too.

Ticket prices will be dropping fast. The Coliseum will be empty for next month and a half.

Konate will never play in NBA. D-League is short term. He needs all 4 years and a bachelor degree before he goes anywhere. 6-7, slow and a center game won’t make him much money in long run.

I see what Bob is trying to do here. It sucks seeing us lose games we really shouldn't.

But, you have to look at it for what it is - a team in disarray and turmoil.

We don't have any leadership. Our only senior, when you think about, is probably the biggest disappointment to wear the WVU uniform in the past 20 years. Lazy defensively, regressed offensively. If you think leadership and your first thought turns to him and you don't think "Oh, crap", I don't know what else to say.

We can't get Beetle open because we can't work inside out. We have nobody who can throw an entry pass. Knapper and MCCabe are too short and are still trying. Gordon looks like he can do something but gets limited touches.

Our spacing is terrible. The ball doesn't move because we don't move. Nobody cuts hard and fast. Lots of things wrong offensively.

Defensively, I don't know what to say. There is just no "want to" in this team. Outrebounded, outhustled. Too much standing and watching. Harler on the court the entire game? I know for now he brings a calming influence but his slow feet mean his man drives past him pulling a defender away to help and allowing clean looks at the basket. Offensively he can't create his own shot and can only shoot when he can spot up.

Don't know the answer. Hopefully Bob does or else we are looking at the NIT at best.

If you look at WVU's schedule and think that any road or neutral site game is a gimme, it's going to be a long season. College basketball is full of upsets. Just ask Virginia about Maryland Baltimore last year.

As for WKU, Josh Anderson is one of the quickest guards in the country and he's going to average 3-4 steals/dunks a night.
Bassey just turned 18 last week and he just finished his 4th game with 13 pts 15 rebounds. WKU is a good team and tonight's win was no fluke.

If you are calling Buffalo and WKU cupcakes, you really don't understand DI basketball.

Maybe not cupcakes, but not likely upper half of the Big XII which is the conference we are trying to compete in.

This team is still a mess. A real dog turd. No redeeming qualities at all.

I've never seen a team with so many point guards and not one of them can handle the ball or pass it without hitting somebody standing at the popcorn stand. When they aren't throwing the ball away they're fumbling with it and dribbling it off their leg like a bad D-3 point guard. Never seen a team like this one where all of its bigs think they're the second coming of George Gervin and prefer to shoot 25-footers instead of posting up under the basket.

This team has already been schooled by teams from the MAC and Conference USA, and struggled with a Metro Atlantic team. Thank goodness we don't have any Mountain East or Presidents Athletic Conference teams on our schedule. We'd probably get schooled by Glenville State and Bethany.

Oh, and in the time it took me to write this post our PGs turned the ball over 4 times.

WV doesn't have a player who can create off the dribble.

Carter could get into the paint and make things happen.

Since WV doesn't have that they need Konate to create spacing by hitting the outside shot.

Konate as a low post presence only works if you have shooters.

Bolden is the only shooter I have seen for WV.

So Konate needs to play on the perimeter so slashers like West and Ahmad can get to the basket.

Those young guards that WVpride blew up cannot take anyone off the dribble so they cannot create .

What I worry about is that both Buffalo and WKU had better players........that's scary bad.

Can’t comment on Buffalo, but WKU probably did have better players. We’ve got a P5 roster and we recruit like a P5. Currently on roster:
Bassey: 5*
Anderson: 4*
Bearden: 4*
Diange: 4*
Murray: started for Auburn last year
And our two leading scorers (Savage and Hollingsworth) were under the radar 3* Kentucky kids who should’ve been more highly rated.

WKU is not a “cupcake” as one of your fans put it.

I still think you all can have a successful season. Your fans are looking at the names of the school and are blind to the talent that are in those rosters. Good luck the rest of the way.

Listen.............the administrators will not be dropping the price of tickets. They have a payroll to meet and cannot drop prices. They ain't gonna kill the golden goose. The 'shiny shoes' gonna eat..with or without fans! Warez
