We need that killer instinct at the end of games deep in March. I think it's youth. Our guys that stay are role players and seem to defer to the 5 star studs in crunch time. We were playing not to lose. Again. When UConn cut it to 7 I knew we were either going to lose or just barely hang on to win. Despite our success it is a frustrating pattern.

Oh I agree Bleed. I think it’s ridiculous that he’s on the hot seat as I haven’t seen that and the Duke fans I’m close with haven’t even entertained that. He’s an ELITE recruiter and that still matters.we are in good hands.
However, we as fans have every right to be pissed off. Duke will not see another Cooper or Cameron and Jon has shown more than once he struggles in the clutch moments. It’s absolutely a huge concern that he needs to clean up as this is Duke- we will NEVER be in a rebuild mode. We have some really good stars coming in next year and maybe we hit the portal, but I just cannot even begin to think about next year.
Last night was unacceptable and the fact it’s happened two years in a row is in unfathomable. Jon deserves some serious heat- he just does Bleed.
Again, not saying he doesn't deserve criticism. But the vitriolic reactions out there are borderline insane.
Also, how did Dan Hurley not get a technical foul after that shot????!!!!! People should be going after that psychopath.
2001 won every game by double digits. That's how you take luck out of it. Letting it go down to the wire you're just asking for trouble. Anything can happen. Bad bounces, crazy shots, bad calls.
Very few title teams can do that. In fact, I think only '01 Duke, '09 UNC, '18 Nova, and '24 UConn are the only teams in the modern era to do that. I get what you're saying. But luck usually plays a huge part. And we don't seem to have any luck at all anymore.
Agree with this Bleed. We definitely fall short in the luck falling our way. I know we can question things that happen in these type games, but in my opinion, we need to tweak our offensive plan a little. Somehow, we have to have more guys willing (and able) to score when the game gets tight.
I'm just an armchair coach, but every team that has won it all (or that I can remember) weren't overly reliant on one guy.
Well, we will definitely have a team next year probably that isn't reliant on one guy. Honestly, I think next year will be a tough season. And probably for Jon his most important yet. The off-season questions are already being raised and people are seeing blood in the water, fair or not. Which is insane to think about because, flaws and all, Jon is one of the best in the business and is only going to get better.
Last year was the one that got away for me. We were the best team. This team was elite eightish as I said over the summer. We overachieved a bit and the injuries didn't help. There was a reason no one was picking us to cut the nets down. A very good year just a bad way to go out.
Yep, had we got to the title game we would have been underdogs vs. either Arizona or Michigan. Illinois would have been a damn tough game as well.
On to next season. No reason to keep dwelling on what could have or should have happened. Anyone thinking Jon is on the hot seat is crazy . Name one school that wouldn’t go after him the minute he got let go! Mistakes happen I feel for the kids and yes Scheyer deserves all the criticism he’s getting after these last two letdowns but it’s over with now . Jon needs to learn from both these tourney games and he will .

100% agree. This is a good listen. He's a Duke fan and has a YouTube page and does breakdown of Duke games. Had more videos on there until YouTube started removing them because of copy right crap.
In terms of popularity, Duke is at the top. Everyone else is fighting for 2nd. It doesn't matter if we play West Texas Community College, or Kentucky, Duke is on TV. Along with that though comes the ridicule when we lose.
I've said it time after time, it's a blessing and a curse to be a Duke fan.
I get the ridicule, mocking etc because like you said it's Duke. What I don't like is them trolling Evans on their Twitter page. That should be an absolute no no. If I was Duke, I wouldn't give them the time of day if they want to interview anyone

Unfortunately it's not just that we lost it's the way we lost. Like the Falcons and Yankees/Red Sox people don't forget this stuff.
I unfollowed Rich on YouTube for now. In fact, I won't be watching any sports-related content unless my Spurs and Canes are playing. If the Duke game is mentioned, I may turn it off.
Who cares ? These kids will adjust . It’s the ones I want to see it become fuel for ! Nothing more than learning from a mistake and hate is always turned into fuel for the fire. I’m from North Carolina , stay in the biggest county and am surrounded by Cheat fans , State fans and any other side ways non Duke fans you can find . You know how many had something to say to me this morning or yesterday evening ? 0 not a one because they know I bleed Duke blue . I feel for these kids . They wanted it bad but mistakes were made . You live and learn or never move forward ! So bring your jokes, Bring your taunting and ridicule of coaches and young men ! But do it so it sits in dark and deep ! No one on the floor at the end of the Houston game was on the floor at the end of the UConn game. You can't learn if you don't stay. We need starters back or it will be the same **** next year.
Agreed with shey. Life is nothing more than Wins & Lessons. You either learn your lessons and improve or you continue to experience the same results.

im confident no one feels worst than the Duke Team. These are the guys who actually experienced the loss. We are just fans who enjoy watching Duke basketball.
this team had some high character and resilient guys. Yesterday’s outcome doesn’t change my opinion on them. Brown, Ngongba, Evans, Foster, and Harris all experienced the loss to Houston. They all came back for more, that’s what competitors do, they don’t run from pressure or the grind, they take it head on.
I am especially Proud of Foster. I’ve always been a Believer in the Kid. He didn’t care what the critics had to say about him. He Dug Deep and Became A Leader.
When one believes in themselves, why should the opinions of haters affect them? The haters are nobodies.
