Getting close to having a G4, which is what they need. P4 is likely occurring at some point in the future, but it will take the dismantling of either the ACC or Big XII more than likely, which probably will never occur.

Either way, they need to split, and each have their own playoffs. Never understood why Marshall or Utah State or San Jose State would want to be competing for a title they have no chance of ever grasping. I realize it's all about money though, and they're all willing to bend over for the all mighty dollar.

CUSA in serious trouble. Only 5 schools left.

Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. Both were rumored to have initiated talks with the MAC. Could not CUSA down to 3.

CUSA can add Liberty, New Mexico State and pray some FCS teams want to move up. They have also spoken to UCONN as football only member.

CBS SPORTS:

Conference USA has lost nine of its 14 teams to the American Athletic Conference (Charlotte, FAU, North Texas, Rice, UAB, UTSA) and Sun Belt (Marshall, Old Dominion, Southern Miss). That after the American's to watched three of its top programs (Cincinnati, Houston, UCF) depart for the Big 12 in conference realignment. Texas and Oklahoma deciding to move from the Big 12 to the SEC kicked off this round of realignment.

Sam Houston is the defending FCS national champion that has played in eight of the last 10 FCS playoffs and is located in Huntsville, Texas. The school left the Southland and joined the newly formed WAC in July. Sam Houston officials have long desired to move up to FBS, according to FCS sources.
