From what I read, Clemson has 28 players not playing due to injury or opting out with two more who may or may not play based on a game time decision (including Cade Klubnik). How does that compare to Clemson not playing list?

NIL isn't pay for play thoughYes we differ. I used to feel the way you do when they were amateurs, but if they want to be paid, they shouldn’t get to make the calls anymore. Volunteers can stop volunteering at any time. Workers getting paid to do a job aren’t allowed to quit without forfeiting their wages.
Because it's part of the season and still within the semester they're enrolled. The fall semester is over--many of these guys are no longer students at Penn State.Simple answer to your last query is that the players are getting paid. Yes, it’s not pay for play but it’s a lot of money they’re making. Before NIL only the most hardline of fans had a problem with players opting out of meaningless bowl games. Now, it’s a different story with NIL. I personally have no problem with players opting out but I easily understand the contrary view.
And someone asked this question, why not opt out against Rutgers? How was this year’s Rutgers game any more important than today’s bowl game? I don’t have an answer to that.
1--then players will go to schools that don't require that in their NIL deal as most accept these games don't mean anythingTo avoid this situation in the future one of two things must occur:
1. All those receiving NIL monies must play the full schedule, including bowl games, or return the NIL money.
2. Since bowl games are totally meaningless, ALL are canceled beginning next year except for those associated with the playoffs.
All teams are free to schedule the allotted number of "bowl game practices" including scrimmages with other teams.
Comparable--both programs understand what this is.How does that compare to Clemson not playing list?

2--much better option
To add some context to that list, some of those names are guys who have been out most of, or all of, the season with injury. Many on that list are not new names. To avoid this situation in the future one of two things must occur:
1. All those receiving NIL monies must play the full schedule, including bowl games, or return the NIL money.

DDS has taken a lot of crap here this year, yet nobody is commenting on him playing today.Does Clifford get a bonus!
It will be interesting to see if they write "bowl games" into those contracts--somehow I don't believe they will. If they do, we'll just have guys not playing due to "coach's decision" like the NBA does all the time.At some point contracts will change to be more like NFL contracts (and standardized across the P4) and players will play if games are being played.
He seems like a guy that just likes to play football. That’s admirable!DDS has taken a lot of crap here this year, year nobody is commenting on him playing today.

See that's where we differ. I want the best for our guys...not just while they're in our uniform.
Allen was arguably our best player this season. He gave us his all. Now it's time for him to do what's best for him. This isn't a playoff game. I'm still trying to understand why people care about bowl games. No one has yet to be able to explain that.

It was a regular season game. Not a scrimmage. The regular season and the playoff matter. Today's game is simply a reward for those that want go participate. But Rutgers wasn't a playoff game. MSU and Indiana were not playoff games.
Bowl game were once fun to watch - school pride and all of that.
If Beth Mowins is doing the game… no pregame needed! No pregame on ABC. Some jack hanna monkey sh|t. Maybe this game isn’t as big as we think it is.
