He will say Allen was gassed - and he likely was.
But PSU had 2 TOs. Take one and let Allen get his wind back, and then run him - twice if necessary - to pick up those 5 yards.
Like it or not, it will be Rhule. No great coach - like Meyer - will look at the 2026 roster and decide to come here
Careful. I was accused of picking on the white players when I criticized DeLuca previously.
I can't bear to watch it again, but how much time was on the play clock. The blitzer was on a dead sprint. Either we were at the end of the clock and he was timed up with the play clock OR we hesitate, he's offsides and it's a first down.
I think a quick snap to Reynolds might have worked there.

You are spot on and that is the parting turd Big Game James has left all over this program.....a complete inability to make plays in the clutch to win close games. This game is a perfect example. The defense folds like a cheap tent when we have to get a stop then the offense cannot pick up a crucial first down with horrific playcalling.

Nope. Guy was a monster the first 3 games of the year and has been invisible since.
It's going to be really hard to let that sink in, considering D1AA isn't a thing.
Singleton must have some photos of AK doing things weirder than his play calling.

I think the money ruined this team, guys pointing fingers at Singleton, Allar and others for making so much andcyhey just stopped caring, Allar too busy making commercials I guess to learn how to throw properly, Oline a complete joke, I just think the NIL ruined this team

How many scores did Grunk setup Iowa tonight? But not the issue? 93 yards passing and 2 INTS. And one of those INTs setup an easy TD by Iowa. The offense was so bad under Grunk. The only thing that worked was a TD because PSU got an INT to start the game and special teams touchdown. Allen was the whole offense. Grunk is not a good quarterback
They were keying on him, since we fell into the trap of relying on him too much toward the end. He was gassed as a result of overuse, as well ... you typically don't just need a quick TO to recoup from that. You need a few plays off.
Regardless, Singleton being in was the correct move. It just should have been short passes beyond the LoS (whether he stayed in to pass pro, or he ran a route), not a running play.
Correct! It is the ridiculous, video game, gimmicky offensive scheme. They brought in three receivers who were productive at their prior programs, yet they have absolutely no downfield passing game in this horrible, dink and dunk scheme which relies entirely on fooling the defense. I am dead serious when I say that freaking Jay Paterno could walk in next week cold and put together a better offense. Give me the spread HD all day over this horsesh*t. If you want to fault Franklin for anything, it was hiring this OC (and a DC whose defense was too complicated to install in a season in which you had championship aspirations).

One of the picks was actually a good pick--put them at their own 6 instead of us punting
Grunk was set up to fail by awful play calling--we've seen it all year. The pick toward the end of the first half is 100% on AK.
Not sure how you reach a conclusion on any QB after 1 game in THIS offense--really any offense but especially one this horribly designed.
This team is now exposed. The assistant coaches are below average. The talent and development is below average. Schemes by the coordinators are piss poor. The talent on this team is going to take several years to improve. I am trying to find positives on this team and staff but it is not easy to find anything good
I think the talent is way better than you do--it's not developed which is a fair criticism.
We also don't have coaches that put players in a position to succeed
A gassed Allen is better than a fresh Singleton
Do you have any confidence in Grunk? I don’t and definitely want to tryout Smolik and more than likely being in a starting quality quarterback from the portal.
I think we need to seriously lower the expectations on the coaching hire. Kiffin and other high profile coaches that are being mentioned are not going to want anything to do with this roster. It is awful, and will take several years to rebuild.
Grunk is definitely not ready for prime time. Can't really blame him that much, since this was a hostile environment to walk into for your first ever start, and he hasn't gotten many reps prior.
We'll see if can develop while playing under fire, but ... man ... he really panicked under any kind of pressure. Going to need to be a quick learning curve.
If you're going to use Smolik like you used Pribula, you at least have to let him attempt to throw sometimes. It becomes so obvious, so quickly, what you're going to do, otherwise. I don't understand repeating that mistake with a new QB duo.

Keep in mind you are replying to the azzhat who proclaimed the offense would be better off under Grunk than the true #2 last year.....
