Evidently there is no one else....... I almost started feeling bad for the kid.
I did feel bad for him. The CBS crew said the available back-up was a true Freshman who had not played. OK, the game was over, put the Freshman in to finish to avoid more serious injury to the current starter.

In a season where there hasn't been a whole lot to get excited about, that drive that took nine minutes off the clock was perhaps not a thing of beauty, but "epic." No, Grunkemeyer isn't the 2nd coming of Kerry Collins, but he did with his feet what Kerry used to do with his arm - and he really looked like he was leading the team. And Kaytron Allen more than earned his pay today. OK, it's only Michigan State, but a win's a win. Oh, and I saw some very nice tackling by the D - hit the guy solid and wrap him up. The team played very well today. I hope they can keep this mojo going. Glad, too, for Terry Smith - he deserved this win.

PSU staff continues to play not to lose instead of playing to win. Today it worked out because MSU is a bad team.

50 runs, only 13 passes. Most of the pass attempts were after running on first and second down but still having more than 5 yds to go. That puts a lot of pressure on Grunk.

Someone needs to teach Grunk how to slide

Agree, but on most of the replays where QB Grunk dropped back, didn't see many receivers getting open. Very seldom saw a WR come back toward the QB

I'm going to disagree with you a little on that. I saw at least 3 or 4 times there was an open WR. This was not Grunk's best game but I will say his scrambling broke things open for the rest of the running game.

He wouldn’t have gotten those first downs had he slid…you lose a yard or so when you do that.
True. We were sitting on the 50 yd line and the Line Judge was short spotting PSU on most every play.

When Grunk slid earlier in the game the spots were horrible. I thought the LJ shorted him a yard on his run down to the 8. They spotted it at the 9

Very rarely is anyone open--the film has been broken down countless times by countless people--this was an issue long before Grunk was playing QB
What was funny was on the long play, suddenly all three receivers were open.

Grunk looks downfield. Allar did not. That at least loosens the LB’s from the LOS. He had few options on most of those pass plays. His protection was decent, just nowhere to go. On some plays he looked downfield a loooong time before giving up.

Grunk will be quite good, unless Hagans stays here.

And AK will be gone, that alone makes the WR room better.
