Again, you just like him because of the pin and the presser
Can’t you ever shut the **** and let people enjoy a win. Every team Penn state beats is garbage to you. Smith has the respect of his team and they are playing much more engaged. He won’t be the next coach so why keep arguing. You’re the most annoying person I’ve ever seen of the boards.

Krafty Kraft with the white puffy jacket gave TS a huge hug.

Kraft's job is in jeopardy if he doesn't hire TS.

My god, Franklin was such an organizational cancer,
No he wasn’t. Good lord. He did a ton of good things for this program and brought us to a level where 10 wins isn’t good enough. You can not like him, that’s fine, but to call him a cancer is ridiculous.

The one thing I am concerned about with Smith as HC is I wonder if he'd be able to be tough when necessary with his players. It's obvious they love him, but would they run through a brick wall for him?
I believe they would. I think the team went from being Franklin's guys to Penn State players the last few weeks. Just look at the body language of the players. Look at their play. Far different than the beginning of the year.

That would actually be the least of my concerns regarding Terry Smith

I think they would. My concern is that he doesn't have the national reputation to attract the top players we need.

Terry with the “this is my locker room “. Kraft almost in a no win situation because he does or does not hire Smith. Too many folks using their hearts with Smith. The thing none of us know for sure is what caliber of a staff could he put together?????

He's not making anything - could be signed to a contract that doesn't constrain PSU in any way whatsoever, so not so sure what you're all nail-biting concerned about. There is zero downside with Smith and tons of upside. He's effectively a "zero-cost option" contract.

Very few "elite" coaches out there, and are there any at all available right now?
Lots of "fools gold " coaches out there, I see little downside to giving Terry the job.
Players sure seem to like him, and he's a true footballer.
Key’s about to lose to Pitt, so there’s that.

Kraft is in a very tough spot. The players want Terry and the crowd wants him too. Unless he has Deboer, he has to hire Terry.
Agreed. This is the first time in a long time that these players played. I'm forced to agree, hire Terry.

And OBTW, that JOE 409 button was awesome. That'd be the best way to honor Joe - choose Terry as head coach.

Like you are to this board, Franklin was carcinogenic to PSU football.

Smith needs to win two more games - and look great doing it - to even be in the conversation. Would have been a lot more palatable if we had beaten Indiana

The odds of him hiring Terry are very small. He doesn’t “have” to hire him, and almost certainly won’t.

Dare I say it.... Paterno was a little known assistant coach when he was promoted to head coach and he did alright.

Plenty of downside…hiring someone that hasn’t done this before, doesn’t have the “name recognition” to make waves on the recruiting trail, etc. Tons of in-state talent in the 2027 class to miss (best class in zPA in a while). More turnover when we need a long term solution. Etc, etc, etc.

But I’d love Terry to stay with the program in some capacity under our new coach if he wants to and it works out.

In truth, at this point of the season, he likely beats Indiana and Iowa no problem. He is earning success with the worst offensive coordinator in the country. It took a few games for him to really grasp a hold of what he needed to do to manage AK.In his own words, it took a long time just to institute the forward pass in this previously anemic offense.
