I now believe that Grunk can be the QB of the future.Don't forget he almost beat Indiana with a very green quarterback.

Can't you ever stop obsessing about everything that I doCan’t you ever shut the **** and let people enjoy a win. Every team Penn state beats is garbage to you. Smith has the respect of his team and they are playing much more engaged. He won’t be the next coach so why keep arguing. You’re the most annoying person I’ve ever seen of the boards.
For Christ's sake, he's not Moses.A realistic evaluation is
Terry Smith has beaten two teams who Penn State was favored to beat. He lost to two teams who were favored to beat Penn State.
I am not against hiring him as the head coach but let’s be aware of what his resume is.
I can see it coming! Terry does not get the job and is offered a higher role with the team. He will pout and head off to jimmy frank. Does this sound like a great defensive line coach now working @ ohio state!Plenty of downside…hiring someone that hasn’t done this before, doesn’t have the “name recognition” to make waves on the recruiting trail, etc. Tons of in-state talent in the 2027 class to miss (best class in zPA in a while). More turnover when we need a long term solution. Etc, etc, etc.
But I’d love Terry to stay with the program in some capacity under our new coach if he wants to and it works out.
We had that run game not because of Franklin, but because Saquon was a generational talent. I never want to see a RB getting the ball standing still at the mesh point 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage ever again unless it is a draw play. Are you stating we never had a good run game under Franklin.
Saquon says hi
And again--consider the opponents
I don't necessarily disagree, but you can only judge him on what he has done, not some theoretical performance. My gut tells me that he would be perfectly fine as an official HC, but I think the PR hit of hiring Smith isn't tolerable - we need to swing big. I do really hope they keep him on the staff though. In truth, at this point of the season, he likely beats Indiana and Iowa no problem. He is earning success with the worst offensive coordinator in the country. It took a few games for him to really grasp a hold of what he needed to do to manage AK.In his own words, it took a long time just to institute the forward pass in this previously anemic offense.
Don't forget he almost beat Indiana with a very green quarterback.
$$$$. Give him the NIL backing and that will be national reputation enough.I think they would. My concern is that he doesn't have the national reputation to attract the top players we need.
Terry is definitely the emotional choice right now. There is no doubt he is a loyal and true Penn State guy. But rarely do the emotional choices work out well.Plenty of downside…hiring someone that hasn’t done this before, doesn’t have the “name recognition” to make waves on the recruiting trail, etc. Tons of in-state talent in the 2027 class to miss (best class in zPA in a while). Can't overlook the fact that Smith started out with no experience Grunk at quarterback. Now Grunk is playing at a level at least equal to where Allar was this season.
That is a big accompl

I hated the "Standing still" handoffs as much as anyone but it was a dominating run game. Part of the reason our run game can dominate now is Allen. We had that run game not because of Franklin, but because Saquon was a generational talent. I never want to see a RB getting the ball standing still at the mesh point 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage ever again unless it is a draw play.
The guards and tackles pulling tonight was a thing of beauty. Hat's off to the Oline.
Phlebitis is the inflammation of a vein, which can cause redness, swelling, warmth, and pain along the affected veinThe players are just showing their support and respect for Smith. Obviously they’re not considering whether Smith can also excel at the many other responsibilities that come along with the position. I feel great for him and I’m glad the team is enjoying this, but he walked in to a situation that was already built to do this.
Terry took over a team who lost 3 straight, 2 of them to doormat teams. Plus lost their senior QB. Every goal the team had is gone. Oh, then he has the 3 toughest games on the schedule as his first 3. Can't think of much worse circumstances to take over as coach.A realistic evaluation is
Terry Smith has beaten two teams who Penn State was favored to beat. He lost to two teams who were favored to beat Penn State.

Yes, I know. I used that when I set up my account. Which of course was before I realized you can‘t change it.Phlebitis is the inflammation of a vein, which can cause redness, swelling, warmth, and pain along the affected vein
Terry Smith started his career with a first time starter at Iowa at night, the #1 ranked team and then the #2 ranked team. I don’t need to look at record books to know no other coach in the history of CFB has been asked to start that way.A realistic evaluation is
Terry Smith has beaten two teams who Penn State was favored to beat. He lost to two teams who were favored to beat Penn State.

I disagree. I think you want as many leaders as you can get, and we’ve had a bunch of great ones like LJ and Manny. Assistant coaches are in charge of a smaller group of players and those players absolutely need leadership from their own coach.I love Terry and hope he gets the job, but if he doesn’t he can not stay. There is 1 leader not 2.
I want a coach who can recruit and recruit nationally. Need bigger better players. It is a tough situation. Personally, I don't give a **** who the next coach is. I just want a coach who can imprint an identity onto the team
Should have beaten Indiana too…play aggressive and we win.Which means nothing--we underachieved all year--including Smith losing to Iowa
I wanted Joe to step down in 1999The fact that people are still talking about Paterno .........move on. This doesnt have to be a "Penn State Guy". Swing bigger.
Why would you choose that medical affliction? You could have opted for gonorrhea, vaginitis or even smegmatis.Yes, I know. I used that when I set up my account. Which of course was before I realized you can‘t change it.

Don’t know.Wasn't Terry PSU's best recruiter?
They’re playing the best guys on O and to strengths. Would love to have seen Allar in this setting.Perhaps it's just me, but Andy Kotelnicki and Jim Knowles are proving to be better coodinators after the departure of a certain individual.
Hmmmm![]()
You are so incorrect.I love Terry and hope he gets the job, but if he doesn’t he can not stay. There is 1 leader not 2.
That actually happened, didn’t it?There's still a chance we see Grunk lining up wide in the wildcat to start the 2nd half.![]()
Uhhhh…shouldn’t he have known that already?I’m actually warming up to Knowles now that he’s learned we’re better playing aggressive.
Sounds like you want Franklin. Those are his strengths.I want a coach who can recruit and recruit nationally. Need bigger better players.
Every single guy this board wants as coach started out as a little known entity.Dare I say it.... Paterno was a little known assistant coach when he was promoted to head coach and he did alright.
They’ve had 19 decommitments since Franklin was fired. It’s probably not a reflection on Terry, as he is a very good recruiter, but probably more of a reflection of the instability and unknown within the program. That’s on Kraft, not Terry. Kids want to know who their HC will be when they sign on the dotted line on the first week of December.Don’t know.
I know that they’ve had 2/3 leave while he’s still there and it’s a punt recruiting if you hire him.
I feel like this is how they should have been playing starting in game 2 (maybe 3).Terry took over a team who lost 3 straight, 2 of them to doormat teams. Plus lost their senior QB. Every goal the team had is gone. Oh, then he has the 3 toughest games on the schedule as his first 3. Can't think of much worse circumstances to take over as coach.
He has managed to restore discipline and toughness to the team. The players have clearly responded to his message. The offense is playing well. The defense is playing well. The team is light years better than they were in August.
