Wow. Franklin’s really putting up impressive stats recently.

-First top ten team to lose to a 0-4 team in 40 years.

-First FBS team in 30 years to lose as back to back 20point favorites.
What really stands out is how he was loving all the attention before the season and the Oregon game. He really wanted the attention. He said they welcomed the pressure. He was so large and in charge. It makes all of this worse because he did his big talking before he delivered. He looks bad.

I'm all in on Urban Meyer.

Honestly, I think that’s the only way to stop the bleeding now. If you want to save recruits and watch the portal light up some to turn it around- it would be to put Urban in charge. He brings immediate attention and gravitas. Hiring an unknown right now will do nothing to stop the bleeding. Keeping Franklin will be a disaster in terms of losing recruits and players portalling out.

Again I've said nothing negative about him other than he had yet to win a big game. Never once said or implied he wasn't good.

All I said, no major program is bringing in someone who will be 65 and has never coached an elite program. It won't happen.
He coached for Saban at Alabama and won a natty. He beat Oregon at Oregon. He took JMU to the national championship game probably would have won it the next year if not for covid. He probably will have Indiana in the top 5 but yet he is not elite in your eyes... 🙄

Urban has said on multiple occasions that he's done coaching. Keep in mind that he turned down Texas and MEGA money just a few years back.......and that Texas recruiting area has maybe the top HS football in the country. Do people really believe that Urban would come to PSU after turning all of that down

I know his background--probably way better than you.
He did beat Oregon--his first big win at Indiana--happy for him
He lost games he should have won at JMU in the playoffs--that's not debatable. You have no clue if he would have won if not for COVID.
Find where I said he wasn't a great coach. The only current elite coach is Smart.
Acknowledging his age and that no major problem is going to start a regime with a 65 year old isn't a criticism. It's reality

Very true. At this point, keeping Franklin is going to tank recruiting and put the program back by years.

I get the buyout is ridiculous (thanks again Sandy) but they’re at a crucial crossroads now. If PSU got back on the winning path they’d clearly run out the clock with Franklin for a few more years but now they’re looking at a minimum of 5 losses (likely more).

Watch the decommits pile up this week. At this point, the program is in a complete free fall death spiral.
I said last week they were staring directly into the reality of a 7-5 season.

After today, it's more likely 5-7, possibly worse.

Which remaining games do you feel confident about?
Ohio State is a guaranteed loss.
Indiana is a guaranteed loss.
They're not beating Nebraska.

So, right there, you've got 6 losses.

They maybe beat Rutgers, Michigan State?

Iowa's a coin toss, at best.

Things change over time. I think you have to at least make the call. If he says no then so be it.

Wait...how is Nebraska a guaranteed loss
We might lose out but Nebraska isn't good either.

This game makes me question if Coach James Franklin lost control of the team. It sure seems that way to me. No one can doubt the talent on that Penn State sideline, but what you can doubt is the preparation and a lack of urgency.
PSU had concerns at DT and LB. Campbell was a big pickup at LB but Rojas got injured. Now it's Campbell and former walk on Deluca. Our $3 million defensive coordinator likes to play a 4-2-5 scheme but IMO we need two good DTs for that to work. Opponents send a guy in motion wide and Deluca follows leaving just Campbell. We're getting killed on runs up the gut and on quick passes over the middle.

I understand that he has a preferred style but at some point you have to adapt to your talent and what the opponent is doing. Speca is a sophomore but was a 4* consensus LB with offers from Michigan, OSU, ND, Tennessee, and A&M. Wylie was injured last year but he's a Jr with offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and A&M. How bad can the defense be that these kids aren't seeing the field. Our 2 guys are gassed by the end of the game.

I'm listening to the post game from Indy vs Oregon. They flat out said PSU has far more talent than teams like UCLA & Northwestern but they have no heart.

That all comes from the coaching staff IMO. No fire. No accountability. It’s the ‘it all starts with love and ends with love’ attitude. Like playing Singleton on the last series of the game with the game on the line because it was his turn to get a series. So the best running back wasn’t on the field because it’s an ‘everyone gets a trophy’ approach.

Bottom line is as Jimmy Johnson said ... It's about the Jimmy and Joe's not the X's and O's ... PSU does not have top talent right now. The reason Knowles scheme worked at OSU was the talent. Simple as that... Most schemes and coaches can win with that talent

I bet he wasn’t dropping that line when he was negotiating his contract with Jerry Jones

I believe it was a "confirmed Urban (no pun intended) legend" that Meyer was going to take over for Joe.

It’s comical seeing Allar “rack up” another set of below average stats (he’s made a career of it) yet be defended as if he’s really Peyton Manning saddled with a supporting cast and coaching staff that are a combination of F Troop and the Three Stooges. The coaches and the teammates may be lousy and deserving of those monikers, but Allar is a combination of Corporal Agarn and Shemp. Yes, I’m old — Google the references if necessary. Translation: The coaches and the OL and receivers may not be good, but neither is Allar.
Please DO NOT EVER insult the 3 Stooges and F Troop like that again.

I agree. Kraft wouldnt be doing his job if he didnt. But i dont believe Urban will coach again. Maybe Urban would have taken over for Joe. But not now.

Not related to Allar--simply comprehend what is happening--try it
Quit being a clown.. Allar has a 2 CENT HEAD and cant process worth a damn everyone sees it regardless of what slop AK puts in there ... Good QB's find a way period to get it done considering they are the ones on the field doesn't he not have the sense to check out of the play call or doesnt AK allow him to do that? if thats the case why?? if Allar is sooooooo good?

Why is it the NW D can be so aggressive and fill holes, solid tackling, stopping big downs with big hits yet the PSU D looks half hearted and running through the motions? Runners and receivers going big yards each play.

When was the last time a PSU D came up with a big stop big hit like just happened?
Because psu guys are getting paid!!! NW guys are getting an education

was at the game cochise so yeah watched the disgrace in person what better situation?? NW owned us all day there was no better situation ever to be had, that 2nd and 1 pick in the endzone after a blcoked punt?? Better situation huh? a good QB throws it away and lives for 3rd and 1--- I suspect you are the one not watching you know head in sand everytime he drops back--- his reads and progressions are just awful-- But I guess you will just tell us Allar is playing 3d chess all of a sudden?? ....Glad you want to die on that hill kudos to you for it , but you have proven nothing about the skills of Allar, get back to us when Allar is maybe taken in the 5th round and tell us how great he his one more time

The pick in the end one was a bad decision especially with the receiver being Clifford. Again, all QBs make motakrd.

His progressions aren't bad at all...on the rare occasion we actually provide time.

Who cares what round he's in? He made a mistake in returning to a staff unable to coach pocket passers and that's on him. The fact you still think the issue is Allar is proof you're the one determined to die on the hill.

And maybe stop wasting money and time going to games.
