Crap, then Iowa is another likely loss. Will we win again this year?!?
We lost in double OT to probably the best team in the country…that means we won’t win again this year. I’m sure Oregon has penciled in at least three losses since they only beat a crappy team in double OT.

One thing I hope for is that when this program finally breaks through against a top team, it brings an avalanche of similar success for many years.

Psyche plays a big role, IMO. The program needs that final confidence boost and some NIL money to get over the top.

We’re going to be so bad, they may retroactively remove some of our early season wins.

It doesn’t matter how it happened, the fact that it did happen is all that matters. We played poorly and still went into double OT. That’s a bigger slam on Oregon than it is on PSU.
Sorry. It really isn't. Another big game L is what it is. When the O plays like dog ****, it will be an improvement. The D did decent. Maybe poor.

It was a garbage effort for a huge white out game. It was supposed to be "the year". 1982, 1986, 2025... That kind of year. Not happening. Top 10. Maybe top 5. At best.

So, the offense played worse than dog crap, and the defense played decent to poor, and we still went to 2 OT with Oregon? That’s pretty impressive. How much do we beat them by if we just play OK on offense? What if we play “well” (but not “great”) on both D and O? What’s the score then?

Are you going to bless us with more stories about how you’re visualizing man on man love again? Or have you satiated those desires?

They need a new coaching staff.

Oregon has certainly recruited better than PSU but PSU still has players from the #6 class of 2022, they're more experienced, and the game was at home. That's why we were favored. This was supposed to be the year. What do you think it's going to look like next year without Allar, Allen, Singleton, Harris, DDS, etc?
Bad.

Hey. Hang that big L proudly on your parents mantle. Maybe one of the water boys will give you a dirty sock to hang off of it. You deserve it.

I am just waiting for wrestling season now. When a coach with intelligence and a winning instinct takes charge.

The game was lost in the first half. Why Penn State on their first possession of the game tried to be cute is beyond me. They did the defense no favors allowing Oregon to run up the time of possession. Even at the end of the first half i was saying they need to run the clock out to give the defense some extra rest, but they couldn't do it. All of that came back to bite them in the end. The antithesis of complimentary football. And boy does Allar miss Warren. He has no safety blanket with another group of poorly coached receivers. This all is on Franklin.

The psychological damage to this program is deep and it will take a while to exorcise the soft, tent-folding mentality.

Famous quote from retiring Robert Michel, the Republican minority leader to Newt Gingrich who was just elected minority leader...

"Every day I wake up and look in the mirror and say to myself, 'Today you're going to be a loser.' And after you're here a while, you'll start to feel the same way. But don't let it bother you. You'll get used to it".

Newt refused to accept losing and the rest was history. Someone somewhere has to be tired of losing these close ones. Every time.

The ball has to be in Allen's hands in that situation.
Hindsight 20/20, but Drew looked one direction the entire time, and the defense easily read it. Should've turned back and pitched to KA. Likely a huge gain.

With Oregon missing the 2PC, it felt like we had the advantage there for a second. Their defensive line was cooked. Probably could've run it down their throats for 8.

That is BS. Take away that stupid overturned fumble and we win.
The problem is they slept for 3 quarters, though. They shouldn't have been in a position where everything came down to yet another ref screw job.

If the play calling is dynamic for ONE more quarter...
If Allen gets all of Singleton's carries...
If Drew keeps his mechanics together on 5 more pass attempts...

Not proud of myself for the negativity during the game thread. Bad read on the INT. But, he led a gutsy comeback when they were written off (me included). Still think AK has to add some different flavors to Dairy Queen blizzard, or maybe just order a traditional one. Disappointed the defense couldn't get a stop, but they were on the field way too long for the first 3 quarters. Oh well, on to UCLA. 1 game at a time. Adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it. Can't wait for next week.

Dante Moore is a fantastic quarterback.
Don't be hard on yourself.

Go back and watch those first three quarters again; the negativity was entirely justified.

You know that dream where you have to take a final, but you haven't been to class all semester?

That was our offense for 75% of the game, except it wasn't a dream.

I’ve defended Drew in the past, especially after repeated losses to Ohio St and Michigan when he was younger, but enough is enough. He’s not a young qb anymore.
What's shocking is how little he's improved over three seasons as a starter.

He has the same issues now that he did in 2023. He's indecisive. He makes bad reads. His mechanics are, at best, wildly inconsistent. His accuracy is crap.

He has flashes of absolute brilliance... just like he had two years ago, but that's it.

It was a stupid mistake on his part and he will probably learn from it, unlike other coaches. After they went up 14 he was yelling “it’s over”, he did the throat slash gesture, and his defense went into a soft zone on our next drive instead of continuing to play man and challenging Drew to beat them. They absolutely eased up. Everyone in the stadium thought it was over because we hadn’t even crossed their 30 at that point.
Huh. I clearly watched the same game that you did, which weirdly seems to be an entirely different game from what some other people saw.

Let’s all finally admit it..he has been a bust compared to the accolades he came in with…I guess Eddie Munster knew what he was doing by not recruiting him to O$U.

And let’s not forget that Oregon had the same number of points that we had at the end of the game….i guess their team sucks too.
Same number of points…away team, hostile environment. Oregon was way better, even if it was tied at the end of regulation.

According to who? I've fallen for this way too many times. Years that we are supposed to be good usually never match the hype. Years where we are rebuilding actually turn out solid. Bottom line is we are just not recruiting with the big boys. Franklin was touted as being a recruiter, but over his span at PSU I don't think it's matched expectations. Especially with skill players.

Good god, you’re quoting Newt Gingrich. WTF? Newt is largely responsible for the political environment we have today. Slimeball.

Except OSU DID recruit him and tried to flip him for the last several months of the recruiting season before he signed with PSU.

I am thinking that we will be in a total rebuilding mode. With a new coach. The psychological damage to this program is deep and it will take a while to exorcise the soft, tent-folding mentality. Will need a tough, old school coach. Might be a young guy.
Or, we make a change and end up like Nebraska.

I'm not saying "don't make a change". I am saying that it might not give the expected results.
