It's incredible to think about how much the Patriots absolutely dominated the league ... and especially the AFC ... during Brady's tenure. The Pats, as an organization, had the most Super Bowl appearances in the history of the NFL, by a comfortable margin, and hold that record despite being absolute uncompetitive trash for much of the franchise's existence. I know people know these facts, but still not sure they're appreciated the way they should be. I hated the Pats for many years, including some of the Brady years, and only became a reluctant fan based on my kids' experiences up here, but that kind of success, in modern sports especially, is just unfathomable. So to be back in the Super Bowl discussion so quickly after Brady left and it all went south, with a young QB who looks like he could lead this charge again for many years ... must be so incredibly frustrating to the fans of other teams who can't get their stuff together, or maintain their stuff for very long.
Yep they had a great run with Brady and Belichick. The jury is still out on if they can stay on top with Maye, etc. Vrabel is a good coach. Defense is good. Big variable, though, is Maye ain't Brady. There was a mental toughness aspect to Brady that we may never see again. Can't underestimate that for those Pats fans hoping or believing they are destined for another decade of dominance and greatness with Maye and Vrabel.

As for this past year, I contend they got two lucky breaks that got them all the way to the SB. First, the horrible interception call that robbed Buffalo of a win vs Denver. I believe they were going to lose to the Bills in the AFC Championship. Allen woud not have turned the ball over again like he did vs Denver. Second, Nix is out and they play a team who doesn't even have an NFL QB. The Cheatriots had a great season but I'm not convinced they will be back in the SB next season.

The left side of the Pats' line was playing injured ... they were out for awhile and they were completely different/limited when they did come back. Maye's shoulder was a problem in the playoffs, even before it was "known."

I don't think relative health was the great difference maker here.
Are you suggesting Maye's apparent shoulder injury is why they lost? I hope not.

Shouldn’t you be on a beach sipping on a boat drink? 😳😁

was my plan. Alas, the winds were crazy last night, and most of the tourist things in the Honolulu area were ordered to be closed today by the state and local government. Plus, it's overcast and scattered rain, so not exactly a beach day. Was planning to go to Pearl Harbor today (it's closed) and hike on Diamond Head (it's also closed). So, we're scrambling to adjust our plans for the day.

If someone purposefully kills a bunch of people in ritualistic fashion, and without an exculpatory reason, is it an "attack" to call them a "serial killer"? If someone keeps getting pulled over for going 40 mph over the speed limit, is is an "attack" to call them a "speeder"?

She must REALLY love "country music," to the point where, if someone recorded nails screeching on a chalkboard combined with the cries of a puppy being ritualistically sacrificed and labeled it "country music," she'd be line-dancing to it.
Good point....it wasn't the best country show for sure.

I laugh at people who are triggered by a football halftime show. I'd never heard of Bad Bunny before the announcement was made that he'd be performing. It didn't matter to me because it just a friggin' halftime show. My guess is many of the people who are mad had never heard of him either because it's not a genre they're into. But the mothership told them to be outraged and they can't disobey the mothership.
You are making a generalization. My wife and I enjoy joy country music so that's the simple reason we watched. We're at the age that we want to enjoy life and we enjoy listening to country, amongst other genres.

I've always disliked these over the hill rockers looking the fool 30 years later. I am a dyed in the wool classic rock fan, but no matter how great they were, whether The Stones or Aerosmith, these performances always kind of suck. The NFL knows full well if it makes their known audience queasy, it's certainly not going to reel in new viewers. For me, The Eagles are legendary, but I probably wouldn't even watch it. The NFL really can't win with that.
I've seen many concerts of over the hill rockers and yes, some of those performances are cringe worthy. However, the Eagles are the exception. They still sound great, even they dont look great. Don Henley still sings songs in their original key....which is something many old rockers can't do.

I'm suggesting exactly what I said.

That, in response to another poster talking up other teams, and talking down the Pats, and basing this assessment on injuries, or a lack thereof, that the Pats were battling through their own stuff, too ... like every team at that point in the season.

I didn't say a single thing regarding the Pats winning if Maye's shoulder wasn't hurt, nor could anything I stated be reasonably interpreted as such.

Keep an eye out for our floating Pacific radar installation while in Honolulu (or any of the Islands). we were fortunate to see it cruising by. Very crazy sight.

Barely watched any of the game. Friends party was amazing and hosts brother was in from Cornell for the day and whipped up some amazing cocktails, including a butter-bourbon washed old fashioned. Thought Bad Bunny was awesome. What else did I miss?

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas. The Pats were in the Super Bowl, and they deserved to be there. The Pats lost in the Super Bowl, and they deserved that loss. All sorts of "if only" situations happen during a given year, for each team ... no one cares.

There's a whole bunch of stuff to that'll happen between now and the next Super Bowl, so ... yeah ... I'm definitely not convinced the Pats ... or anyone ... will be in the SB next season.

Speaking of old rockers, I saw The Doobie Brothers this past summer, not knowing what to expect. They were fantastic. Pat Simmons and Tom Johnston played like it was 1976. Michael McDonald doesn't have the depth to his voice that he once had, but was still good.

I've seen them in recent years too. Surprising how much energy in their performance.

No generalizations at all. People were going berserk over Bad Bunny like he killed someone. The anger is funny to me.

Frankly, seems to me that there has been anger on both sides. Some people were calling those who watched the alternative halftime show Nazis, racists and white supremacists etc. This kind of upset my wife, because that's just not us. We just enjoy country music. It's that simple. We weren't protesting anything or boycotting anyone.

For some reason I feel compelled to post this quote from Nobel Prize winning astrophysicist Kip Thorne: “The universe doesn’t exist to make you happy.”

Nothing like Ph’n Physics to ruin a good time. 🙃

It’s always hard to tell which is more entertaining, the ones complaining or the ones complaining that some ones are complaining. This one is no longer entertaining to me. I guess I have the Ph’n universe to thank for that.

Today's Country music is basically pop music sung by someone with a southern twang. It resembles nothing of the classic country of Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Vince Gill.....

You're correct. You mentioned some our favorites. Vince Gill is my wife's all time favorite, who btw, is a perfect fit for the Eagles.
