and it looks great; thankfully I'm not in a path of a hurricane (thoughts and prayers to all those who are facing tough days and weeks ahead), I get to go work out and maintain my health, and oh, Nebraska lost a football game and the world didn't come to and end. Things aren't so bad after all. On to Northern Illinois!

As PO'd as many of us were in the first half yesterday, I suspect most of us felt pretty good at the end of the game. We didn't get blown out on national TV by an average team. That's a good thing, but kind of a sad commentary on a once proud fan base, right? So you wasted your time letting us know there is no need to dwell on losing a game.

It's been a long time since I've felt bad after a loss.
Expectations have been lowered.
We are a middle-of-the-road B1G football program.

There have been a lot of bad decisions going into the fall of the program to middle of the road at best. I personally believe the whole thing needs to fall off a cliff so it can be rebuilt properly. We are stuck in a downward spiral and it's because of a series of really bad decisions

Yep...it started with Bo and got worse with Mediocre Mike. Two more years of this and a lot of Husker fans will post things like "You know, they got some really high quality guys that Mediocre Mike will coach up, I won't be shocked if they make a bowl game this season"

While Minnesota, Illinois and Purdue all improve.

Good grief....we lost to Oregon on the road by 7 points! As terrible as we started, take away 2 (bad luck) int's and we probably come back and win the game. Unbelievable the negative mentality here. I guess it's just a reflection of society in general today. I still think 9-3 is a real possibility. We'll improve and match up better with Big 10 West teams especially.

Just as you wasted your time responding. See how that works?

I can't wait. Maybe we can get rid of all the "fans" that are only "fans" because we won games. Some of you act like petulant children because a football team didn't win a game. You live vicariously through these college kids playing a game.

We are fans because we WANT them to win games. Us fans don't live through the kids playing the game.

Its not about losing by 7 on the road or whinning about losing a game. Many of us are more disappointed in what we are watching on the field and measure that up against the forward progress of the program. Not sure why any fan would criticize posters that are concerned with that?

Well actually it is sad but there is no way Riley will see 9-3 this year, that would require 2-2 against Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State and Iowa and then not drop another game..

Heck, I'm even worried about Purdue and Minnesota. They don't have our talent level but have better coaches. Rutgers and Northwestern are the only conference games I feel very confident about.

Every year is a new adventure. We're only 2 games in with a new coordinator and we're 1-1. I agree things haven't looked real pretty but let's see what happens as we progress thru September. People need to step away from the cliff and relax. Who knows, maybe Oregon will be a decent team this year? Now if we end up 7-5 in year 3, I won't be a happy camper either. Long way to go!

You are again referencing a record (7-5) that you won't be happy with. That is fine......but I'll repeat many of us aren't looking at a final record but that of on-the-field. This tends to be a more current measurement and thus reflects many peoples disappointments. The good news is it also offers opportunities for positive outlooks to change on a weekly basis.

Looks like Oklahoma found a head coach for a while. Wow 34 years old and beat Urban. So Mike who a great guy is 63 or 64. What is our long term plan? What are opposing coaching saying to these 2018-2019 recruits? It has to work against us and I think we saw that yesterday vs. a 4-8 team with a new coaching staff and we get lit up. Need solutions.

Are you sure you want to relocate to AZ? You ought to reconsider. It's really hot here and the traffic is terrible.
I like hot weather and I don't plan on getting out of the northwest part of the metro area where I will be moving to and driving all over town. Swimming pools and A/C are meant for Phoenix! It's all good.

Agree completely, Oregon jumped on the chance with those early turnovers and got a lead, turnovers are huge momentum shifts and sometimes things snowball, people said Oregon let off in the second half and that is why we cameback, the team showed heart got back in it and made a game of it. The kids finished strong and that lets you know they care, support these players and coaches, we will get better. Nebraska went and played a road game against a top 5 program the last ten years and people act like we got beat by an also ran team just because they are not in the top 25.

If you really believe that Oregon is a 4-8 team/program then you need to rewatch Oregon football the last ten years. They caught some bad breaks last year, struggled to find a starting QB until later in the year and yes made a coaching change, but they are not a 4-8 team.

I hope the team does not take the Huskies lightly, as usual, every team still gets fired up to play NU.
Riley will have the team ready to play.

7-5 has been a realistic possibility mentioned by many knowledgeable ex-Husker players, commentators etc and with that they added that we may be a better team this year but post a worse record because of the schedule. I won't be surprised with 7-5 nor would I be totally shocked if it was 10-2. We can improve dramatically and our D showed glimpses in the 2nd half of what it can be. I'm just glad it's September and we have Husker football to look forward to most weekends for a while. GBR. Win or lose I'm all in with this coach and team.
