Panama is 2 minutes away from knocking Mexico out of the World Cup as they were beating us 2-1 in the 91st minutes and Mexico losing to Costa Rica in the 91st minute. We score 2 quick goals in stoppage time to knock Panama out and advance Mexico to a playoff against New Zealand. I can't help but feel awful for the Panamanians. That was crazy.

I was watching the spanish feed of the mexico/costa rica game, and they went split screen with the USA game for the final 8 minutes or so. The Mexican announcers were ranting about how terrible Mexico was when Zusi scored to make it 2-2. All of a sudden, he yells out (in perfect English) "I LOVE YOU USA! GOD BLESS AMERICA!" and then goes nuts in Spanish. It was incredible.
I have never been so disappointed in a U.S. goal. So close to sticking it to Mexico and giving Panama a shot at their first World Cup. De nada, pendejos.

Tough week for Panama. They were 5 minutes away from a draw at Mexico Friday when a Mexico player who had subbed in just a few minutes before hit a bicycle kick for a goal to win the game. Take either that goal away or the 2 US stoppage time goals and Panama advances to the playoff instead of Mexico. Damn.
Not dumb at all. We were playing to win. Other than the fact it would have been funny as hell if Mexico sat home, them advancing to the playoff doesn't affect the USA at all. Are people actually suggesting we should have thrown the game? That would have been really dumb. I hate it for Panama, but the fact is, they didn't finish 2 games and they're going to pay the price for it. And that's the way it should be.

According to one our players (Beckerman), Panama's players kept asking us to go easy on them over the course of the game. They wanted us to let them win. Suddenly I don't feel as sorry for them.
The funny thing is that basically our second string did all this. Mexico owes still having a prayer of making the World Cup to our second-teamers.
