What is wrong with them and what do they have against Kentucky? I have never understood why those holier than thou Yankee bastards think they are superior to us. They would rather Robinson sign with a rival Big 10 school instead of us? Seriously? I would much rather a guy sign with Ohio State than Tennessee or Florida if they aren't going to UK.

All those comments putting down our football program really hit home. It's time that we all start taking football as serious as we take basketball. I know many already do but, I for one, am tired of being the punchline when it comes to SEC football. We are getting good recruits. Now its time to get results on the field.

A lot of those comments are accurate - if Richardson, Warren or Hudson get a committable offer from tOSU, it will be hard/impossible for UK to hold onto them. Just an unfortunate fact of life.

Of course. That's not what is entertaining. Rooting against UK because it's not a B1G team was cracking me up.

They will explode when UK and tOSU go head to head for a recruit from Ohio, and UK wins. Hasn't happened yet.
Yep and UK has kicked osu *** for elite kentucky kids. They should get instate kids they offer. Don't get why they brag about it though. Should we dog osu because Matt Elam Landon Young Eli brown and Drake Jackson chose UK? Osu is a great program but they make mistakes not offering certain kids. I think CJ Conrad and Mike Edwards are two elite talents they will regret not offering. Regarding Richardson we can only hope that relationships the staff has built win out over a late osu offer. 1 of those 3 guys will get an offer.

Honestly, I don't think it will EVER happen.

If Stoops & Co were to pull off bringing in the top rated recruit in the country that happened to hail from Ohio, most of their message board fans seem arrogant enough that I'd bet they would say he wasn't a take for the Buckeyes.

I think on this particular recruit they are salty because he is so good. I have read several of their fans say he was the best wr in the state last year and will be again this year. Their hatred for the sec can't let them lose an in state guy that talented because it makes the sec stronger and the bottom of the big, weaker.

Its a great point about the Kentucky kids they've offered in the last couple years that came to UK despite OSU and other power schools clearly wanting them(Hatcher, Elam, Young, Brown, Jackson). No BS doubt about "these players not really being takes or fall back players". Those are five guys that would NOT have choosen UK prior to Stoops. That alone is a HUGE piece of the progression. OSU, UT, ND, Mich, Bama....these guys are absolutely historically used to Cherry picking the best players from Kentucky year in and year out. In large part because their isn't a dominant state school. Pretty amazing to even keep the best kids from Kentucky in state given the lack of success in wins and loses.
The next step will be when we actually take an Ohio kid or Tennessee that those schools truly want. IF we can get over the hump a couple of years in a row and even make some noise in the SEC, I'm competely confident it will happen. THAT is when reading those OSU and UT boards will truly be a thing of beauty!!

It hurts them mainly because it's SEC rather than butthurt of so called patsy UK beating OSU for recruits.
Shows their fanbase is the worst in the nation, they are SEC type but without the manners or lack of better word class of the SEC. There is a classier etiquette in the South in comparison to OSU or Wisconsin. I would say the Fl. Gators are the closest thing to OSU. Just not a classy bunch.

Penn St. at Outback bowl were gracious and classy. OSU is a bunch of 50 year old men slugging beer and wearing their AJ Hawk jerseys. What a classless bunch.

Today in Birmingham I was listening to a local sports show and they were talking about this commitment. Basically they said Why? And them followed up with why would any good recruit go to UK. Sort of tells you the mindset concerning our football program.

Very common sentiment expressed about UK - and one that we have "earned" by complete neglect of the program for 50+ years until some recent activity. We are still ages behind other programs, though.

Every high value recruit in Ohio that goes to Kentucky is one less that goes to a Big 10 rival. The only chance that Kentucky would play OSU is if they meet in a bowl game. Not only should they not be upset when Kentucky pulls a recruit from Ohio, they should be jumping for joy. Heck, they should host Coach Stoops on Campus when he comes on a recruiting visit.

I call in that show whenever they talk ****.. couple weeks ago they compared Ben simmons ( I know we're on the Lair) to our freshmen and said " do you really think kentucky players go to class after january"

A few agreed with me but the one who made the point doubled down, even after I presented facts

Their league pride isn't any different than ours. It losses me off every year when Car fans are riding Bama's or LSU's sack when they fight for a title. I want every other SEC to fall flat on their faces on bowl games and versus other big school in non conference games. Its embarrassing for us to chant SEC while watching our RIVALS play. I do t care if they all go on probation, that's better for us. I only care about US.

Not the least bit surprised this is the talk track in the South. We've been getting our ***'s throughly kicked for litterally decades.

The tough part is trying to change that perception in the general public, but more importantly, the recruits we go after. You would have to be a very strong and free thinking 17 or 18 year old to ignore the public perception and pick UK over an SEC power.

Which makes the long over due tactic of recruiting Ohio such a possible game changer. We have to be able to recruit coveted players in the South to truly be a player in,the SEC. But we have to alter perceptions by winning in order to change the perceptions. Ohio and homegrown KY talent will allow us to bridge the gap of winning without recruiting the South very well yet.

That show has 3 guys that know very little about college basketball. Today they also commented that the UNC basketball program was not involved because Roy said it wasn't. I want yo call in to set them straight about a lot of things they say basketball related but I know it will do no good.

While it is a bit hurtful to read some of these comments, DA is right, this is what we have earned. Being angry at another fan base for simply reflecting our own failures back in our face is petty. Respect has to be earned, then attitudes will change, and so will posts on other teams' boards when UK is mentioned.

You are correct. Won't do nothing, but on the rare chance that I hear something while sitting in traffic on 280, I try to set em straight. . Probably 3-4 times in a few years.

It makes me laugh every day when they say "only 364 days until kickoff"

agreed. it pisses them off that UK might be better than the bottom half of the big.... cause if we are "one of the worst teams in cfb" then how the hell are we better than iu, minn, nw, pur, ill, mary, and rutg.... all within reach from a pure talent standpoint. i had an argument with some of their fans one time trying to convince them to steer guys our way because there might come a year they have a loss and they need uga, uf or utee to lose for them to get in the playoff and they all pretty much agreed they'd rather not go than need our help to do it. the superiority complex on some of those guys is off the charts.

Read the comments to the Javonte Richardson commitment for entertainment: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum...03/69204/javon-richardson-commits-to-kentucky

Urban Meyer is a relentless recruiter, he won't exactly break rules but he will walk all over the gray areas. Past coaches at tOSU recruited the state hard, they got almost all the top kids they wanted with Michigan getting the others and very seldom going outside Ohio, Penn, Maryland and DC area to recruit. Meyer understands to get the type athlete he needs to beat the Bama's and CU's he has to have speed alone the DL and LBs he can't get in those areas and has/is recruiting the south hard. No real difference is skill players, but the big guys, there is just more big guys in the south who can move than they are in the north. But by doing this, he is doing exactly what Mark Richt did in Georgia. Pre Richt, we would sign 12-15 of the top 20 kids in state every year, he came in, we recruited the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida and not much anywhere else. But Richt wanted to spread the net wider, we started recruiting the north and west, we pull a few players from there, but with so much attention focused elsewhere, other schools come in and convinced kids they weren't a priority for UGA, creating cracks in the fence Dooley and even Goff had put up, and now its a flood of kids leaving the state. If he had stayed home and put priorities on Georgia kids with no other serious instate recruiting threat we would be signing multiple number 1 classes. But he seemed to want kids we had little chance of signing over kids who would jump at an early offer who had near equal ability. Lots of Georgia kids have NC rings, unfortunately none who played at UGA.

I noticed he's doing the same thing at Miami. No Miami coach should recruit more than 100 miles from Coral Gables, but I have noticed Miami offering guys in Pennsylvania and the DMV area. Asinine. Kirby seems to be repairing a lot of those cracks in Georgia.

OSU runs the read option a bunch, J T Barrett leaves after this season. Who will be the QB, 12 guage went NFL draft route. Coach Gran and Coach Hinshaw run a little of everything, but they will put the ball in the air, and we should be pretty good at QB for a while, not surprising the 4* wr chose UK.

HS coaches in Georgia like Kirby, liked Kirby's dad who was a long time HS coach in Georgia, plus he took advantage of what Richt did at Bama and has a good relationship with Georgia HS coaches. I liked Richt ok, but I never understood that concept. We pulled some really good players from out of state, AJ Green, Gurley, Stafford. But those types who left the state outnumber them by about 10 to 1. Cam and Watson are 2 qbs who left that everyone should know. If we could have gotten another out of state kid to come he might have passed on Chubb too, just always felt the grass was greener, or bluer in UK's case, on the other side I guess.

By Kirby being so well known and liked by the coaches instate it seems to be making it easier for him to repair the cracks Richt caused by that practice. We were always the last school to offer instate kids. Richt wasn't well liked in the HS coaching community because of that. Now if he can run a program.

I really like the excitement Kirby is bringing back to the program. Richt won a lot of games, but he had also lost quite few games he never should have lost. He had gotten too comfortable and the program had become stale. Kirby has barely slept since being hired, first there was the month he was at Bama and contacting recruits for us, now he we don't really have big Jr days planned, he is bringing in 4-5 kids everyday. Last weekend he invited the top 50 rising soph in the state up for a big day, had over 40 of them make the trip. Every interview a kid gives he talks about the pace and intensity practice has that wasn't there last year. He has brought in 2 experienced coordinators, a former OC at Miami as a position coach, a top OL coach, maybe the top OL coach. But still, on game day he has yet to make a decision as a head coach. We have alot of question marks on offense, who is going to be the qb, who is he going to throw to, will Chubb be back, who is going to play OTs. Lots of fans saying less than 10 win will be a failure, but with all the question marks we have on offense I think 8 is a pretty lofty goal. Our defense could be outstanding and hard to imagine our offense being worst than it was last year so I guess 10 is a possibility, but 8 is much more realistic goal. Now 17 without all the question marks, he better get to double digit wins, at least.
