ok, let's set aside the Riley talk and focus on this week's game. This is not a prediction thread.
Nobody is unbeatable. And yes, they are better than we are and will most likely win. But it is not hopeless.
Assuming we bring our A game and they have an off night we can win.
Outside of the obvious (turnovers, penalties, etc...) what are our keys to a win? What is our best game plan for putting us in a position to pull the upset?

Nothing short of divine intervention.

I think we have a chance so long as our defense has the game of the year. Barrett is good, but gets rattled. I would bring a lot of pressure from different blitz packages. Our base defense probably won't cut it. We need to be disruptive.

If the defense can keep it close we might get a touchdown off of a turnover and win 10-7.

No way we win a shootout. It has to be a defensive game or we have no hope
And even if we lose (which we probably will), at least a defensive game will keep it respectable

they're just too diverse on offense for us to hang with. We'll struggle to tackle that RB like we did last week and they actually have a passing game with WR that will be too fast for us to handle. I'd be very surprised if we could hold them under 30 and with Danny L in charge, we probably won't sniff 20.

I think you are missing the point of the thread. Of course we are probably going to get annihilated. But my post is asking for our best game plan to at least give us a chance should OSU play sloppy.
Never mind.
I thought people might have something positive to say.

Its never hopeless but we need something good to happen right out of the gate - and we need a bunch of turnovers

Hard to be positive when they'll know the blitz is coming. When we are in base we are too far off the LOS in certain spots. They'll just counter with screens and bubbles until we back off. I like Diaco but he needs to disguise a little better.

Agreed. A fast start. Maybe a punt return or turnover that leads to a TD. Anything positive. Make them play from behind on the road at night.
Ohio State is not super man.
Like the scene in Rocky IV after Rocky cuts Drago. Rocky's trainer says to him "You see. You cut him. You hurt him. He bleeds. He is a man, not a machine".
College football is 50% talent, 25% coaching, and 25% mental. We need to believe we can win. So we need something positive to happen early

It would be a fluke if we beat them. I just want to see obvious improvement so there is hope of winning the 4 out of 5 games left that are winnable. Purdue, Minn, NW and Iowa are more important at this point. 7 wins would get us a decent bowl and smooth things out going in to next year.

If NIU can stroll into Lincoln and beat Nebraska, then it’s at least possible Nebraska can beat Ohio State in Lincoln.

To do it? Play aggressive enough defense to win, by a crooked number, the turnover battle. Just like NIU did.

Exactly. When playing a team with superior talent you have to press and take chances. Usually it backfires. But if the superior team has a bad night, you get an NIU game or Iowa State over OU.

I agree. My hope is that we can at least be competitive

But I hope Diaco is down there tinkering to disguise some things. It would be of great help if they can't audible to a screen if they know blitz is coming or they read where it is coming from wrong.

Very interesting post sir. Just my opinion, I'd guess that coaching is a big, big part of mental.

50% talent
40% coaching
10% mental

There was a post a few days ago from Alum-Ni comparing both teams and I think we did better in punt returns and sacks allowed and a couple of others and that was it. Heck, maybe Urban will be asleep at the wheel on Saturday, but I kind of doubt it. I'm re-linking his image below:
