All this hubbub with Mullen may add fuel to the fire for those who would rather see MSU hire potential lifers as opposed to hot up-and-comers. I personally am fine being a coach incubator as long as each one continues to build the recruiting base, fan base, facilities and on-field success greater and greater, each from one to the next until MSU becomes more of a destination job. I am afraid if we lose Mullen, the powers that be might be scared into a more conservative hire. Is there a middle ground? What might that be?

There is no middle ground. You hire the best coach you can convince to come to Starkville. End of discussion.

an Ole Miss customer of mine said he wanted the next hire to be someone that would stay longterm. They hired Cutcliffe. Nothing against the coach, butI don't want a Cutcliffe.

Do you mean should we hire greg byrne types vs. larry templeton types?
