Last night at a USM alumni gathering on the Coast, USM AD Giannini said that MSU AD Byrne had contacted him to request a tour of our nearly-completed end zone suite project in the interest of idea-gathering for DWS.

I'd assume that to be true and I'd assume that to be a prudent thing for our AD. GB is looking years out, formulating where we want to go.

that we discussed with USM about future baseball expansion and how to incorporate double wides with our outfield lounge area to give it the complete look.

As good as your football expansion is, I can't get over how bad your baseball expansion looks. And we here at SixPackSpeak.com love to dwell on the negative.

Probably not every year, but occasionally. The price of buy games has skyrocketed with the addition of the 12th game. If we can't do any better than home-and-home with the likes of LA Tech and MTSU, we may as well play an occasional home game with USM, which would draw an additional 10,000 fans. Counting ticket sales, concessions and parking, that's an easy $500,000 additional revenue for us. And no, we wouldn't have to split that with USM because the flat guarantee we pay them would be offset by the guarantee we receive from them the following year.

the only reason usm wants to play in state schools is because they have an inferiority comlpex. You guys aren't a bad team! You don't have to play us to make yourselves feel better. Just do your thing against Tulane etc and be happy. We have to worry about LSU every year. We don't need USM riding our coat tails every time they manage to beat us. it's like playing a girl in that if we win we are supposed to, if we lose we get laughed at.....BY USM PEOPLE. Basically you are calling yourself girls by demanding to play us.

MSU playing USM are both MSU fans, don't you? But I would think another reason USM would love to play either MSU or UM on a home-and-home basis would be to fill up their stadium with paying fans.

I think I'm finally over my long-standing desire to cut Rob Fesmire's nuts off with a shard of a rusted out folgers coffee can. It's time to tee it up again.

But if the economic situation with buy games gets worse, and with our budgetary disadvantages compared to the rest of the SEC, it may be an idea whose time will come sooner than a lot of us would like to think.

J. Bond for whatever he did the night before that game. That and Big Play Tim's stellar performance.

that Parenton came up 6 inches short on that 4th down play and that Bond was 6'4" while Parenton was 5'10". But yeah, you're right. If Bond plays that game, we most likely win it.

and scheduling football- first of all, I think that Byrne is going to increase our revenue, probably to the point where we still won't have to play USM.

Secondly, our "scheduling" was mainly because LT decided to schedule these "series" one year in advance. We need to start scheduling games NOW for the next few years so that we don't have to play MTSU home and home.

Thirdly, our scheduling is also a product of LT being cheap.

Agree that Byrne will grow the revenue. Our budget increased from $28M last year to $32M this year. I predict we'll be at $40M in 4 years.
Secondly, our "scheduling" was mainly because LT decided to schedule these "series" one year in advance. We need to start scheduling games NOW for the next few years so that we don't have to play MTSU home and home.
Not defending LT's scheduling at all (he had us playing 6 road games on a regular basis even before the 12th game was added), but we're not the only school having trouble finding buy games at anywhere near a reasonable price. I think (hope) we should be able to negotiate 2-for-1's with the LA Tech's and MTSU's of the world in the future. But I think the days of buying games from schools like that are quickly coming to an end for lower revenue BCS conference schools.
Thirdly, our scheduling is also a product of LT being cheap.
LT cheap? Surely you jest.

about Byrne sightings over at Barnhills near USM's campus.

/and since this thread was highjacked about 4 times so far I would like to say that I am excited that Byrne is starting to do things like this. He may turn out to be better than any of us would reasonably allow ourselves to imagine.

Are those double stacked mobile homes in that picture of USM's baseball stadium?
