"I think they're going to come out fired up and hot," said Lawrence, MSU's senior right tackle, "but if we jump on them, I think they'll kind of lay down. I feel like they're wanting to lay down in a way, because of the things that have been happening here recently."

If our players are buying into this, whether true or not, then we are in trouble. We just aren't good enough to be overconfident against anyone and expect to win. I mean the only FBS team we have truly blown out this year is Memphis, yes Memphis. La Tech took OT and even UAB and KY were in the game with us most of the way. Yes, OM is bad, real bad, but we are not exactly world beaters ourselves.

and his players say stuff every Egg Bowl week. Last year I think it was JC Brigone was saying how fun it was going to be to whoop Jerrell Powe....and he did. Players take on the personality of their head coach, and Mullen has taken the approach of "WE ARE GOING TO KICK YOUR *** EVERY YEAR".

and even saying we are going to beat them but I DO mind when our players call out the other team saying he expects them to "lay down". You might as well call out their manhood. That's going to give them every motivation to prove him wrong.

big games and saying we are the "best this" and "best that." That would certainly motivate me to go out there and kick some ***. Hell, if Lawrence had just said "I expect them to come out and play tough and motivated. This is a big game for both of us as it is every year," no one would have thought twice about it, even if he really didn't mean what he was saying. Don't add fuel to the fire.

So before you try and start comparing MSU's alleged lay down against UPIG, you better realize that you are comparing MSU to quite possibly the best Ole Miss team I have ever witnessed in laying down for an opponent.
