We all know that my preseason prediction was 22-9 overall and 10-6 in league play for the men's basketball team

I was made fun of the entire month of December

Most of the people who made fun of me fall into one of the following categories:
(1) Never seen a game in person
(2) People who like to ***** in general
(3) Stans haters
(4) People who feel that MSU will always suck in all sports
(5) Dealing with a personal tragedy of some sort and took it out on the basketball team
or (6) All of the Above

Now granted I will not get my 12 non-conference wins (thanks USD and Charlotte)
However, I still think I will get my 10 conference wins

So here we go all you negative whiners, time for a January do-over....how many conference wins for the new-look Basketball Bulldogs?

And yes, I still believe (as I have all season even after the USD loss) that this team will make the NCAAT

We killed an Arkansas team that looked great, but is now 0-3. We beat an Alabama team at home, who then got killed by Auburn. Vanderbilt may be the most impressive win yet.
I fall into none of your categories, in fact I'm always pretty optimistic about MSU sports. I'm not ready to jump on the bandwagon yet though, it's still a young team and could very easily hit a slump. I think 8-8 in the SEC and a decent SECT run. NCAAT... not very likely unless other SEC teams start knocking off non-conference folks.

If we go 10-6 in the league, I think we will make the tourney. That puts us at 20-11 going into the SEC Tourney. We might have to win one to secure a bid.

you said from the start you thought they would be Tourney-bound, and its looks good right now.

I think we tie LSU for the West at 11-5.

Wow. didn't see that one coming. Never thought my prediction would be lower than yours. I hope you're right. Guess I'm just not sure that these first three games really proved that much.

Not going to make a record prediction, however I feel the boys may go dancing. Prolly an 8 or 9 seed and a run in with a other juggernaut, but there will be cowbells on Mobile Bay again!

but Mississippi's injuries and Auburn's shittiness have given us two more I didnt think we would get a month ago. Thats four more wins right there. Leaving just 4-5 with the other 9 games.

The problem is, we have to win 21 to get the vaunted 20 win threshold since we played a non DI school. While 3-0 is nice, I don't think this team has what it takes to go 11-5 in the conference.

I was playing around with my group listings

I know almost everybody on this board wants MSU to succeed

Hopefully, the team will continue to improve

My original prediction was based on the suckatude of the league....I never thought we might be really good

this year. The SEC is way down this year and we already have a couple of pretty bad losses. Couple that with the fact we won't have any significant wins, really, since the SEC is so down, and I say we have to go at least 12-4 and still have to win maybe one more game in the SEC Tourney to get in. The 2 losses at home are killing us. We should very well be 15-3 right now, but we're not. We basically need to go 9-4 the rest of the way, which I think we can do. Wednesday's game is huge!

it helps that Georgia is really ****** as well. I think we win road games at Georgia, Auburn, and Mississippi. That would give us 4 road wins and thats huge. 4-4 on the road and 7-1 at home is very doable it appears at this point of the season.

7-1 at home
3-5 on the road (Georgia, Auburn and then either Alabama or Ole Miss)

So Fayetteville basically has given me an extra game to play with

10-6 will get the team in the NCAAT.....the RPI is already in the 80s despite the horrible losses.....7-6 the rest of the way would squeeze MSU back into the Top 60 RPI wise....Ole Miss has an insanely high RPI, two wins against them would be huge, a sweep of Arkansas would also help tremendously....perhaps the 10-6 can include beating Florida at home

However, 10-6 needs to mean first in the West, it does not need to mean two games behind LSU for second in the West

If we go 12-4 and lose not win a game in the SEC tourney we will still get in. That would put us at 22-10. No way would they leave us out

....and that's not going to do it. I think 12-4 plus an SEC tourney win locks us in. Anything less is iffy. 20 win teams get left out all the time based on RPI, and we've still got a lot of work to do in that area. We need to climb 40 spots or so, and we've got to play a 225 rated Georgia team on the road (God forbid we lose that one).

If 12-4 wins the SEC, then we probably don't have to win one in the tourney. Other than that, RPI is such a big factor, and as we saw a couple of years ago, the committee doesn't much care about division championships. The next three games are huge for our season.

for the entire run this year. I know we really did well at Ark but we still have some problems with playing bigger teams and rebounding that could hurt us playing several teams. I would just enjoy the fact that we are playing much better than we started and realize that anything better than .500 in conference play will be gravy for this bunch.

I'm upping that to 10-6. We'll need to win 1 in the SEC tournament to get an NCAA bid.

i fully believe we will win the west. And as long as we can get through a round or so in the SEC tourney I believe we'll be tourne bound
