Doc is recruiting the high risk players, many of which are talented, but they come with a cost. There's a reason why player turn over is so high at Marshall. Doc is also a branch off the Nehlen tree, so there's a high level of conservative play associated with that. Harbaugh is a cut from a similar tree. What worked in the 70's is not necessarily what works in modern day football. I'm with my old buddy WVUAllen. A team like Marshall should look for bringing up a younger generational coach from FCS that's shown a level of success. If they're successful at Marshall, then yes, you may lose him to a P5 program, or a successful G5 program with more resources, but it's simply the way it is on Marshall's level. It's going to get worse in the future, as the GAP between the haves and have nots continues to increase.
