Go back to six classes. The push for multipliers and success factors came after class expansion in 2001. Keep everything else in place, have six classes, and let the chips fall where they may.

False. This is when the JCAs and PCs of the world were running through 4A like CTA turnstiles and MC was beating on 5A not to mention Driscoll.

The awful debacle of CPS schools holding 1 and 2 seeds based off of record alone. If you are 9-0 and your point total is less than the cutoff you auto drop to 8- then move up others. Gives them credit for winning them all but balances the bracket

Awful. Does this apply to Phillips and Simeon? How about other teams with a high seed who have no chance like St Charles East or West Aurora or just the CPS schools?

But theyre beating 8A playoff teams with open boundries.
There will always be exceptions so I think you fix that by moving them up for 2 years if they win state. I would not limit to one level. If they win 3A, they move to 4A, they win 4A, they move to 5A

no one wants to play on Soldier Field. Even the Bears don't want to play on that crappy field in November.
Kids do, I'm not advocating it because you're right about the conditions, I'm only responds to people saying games should be in smaller venues.

BUT THERE WERE NO MULTIPLIERS OR SUCCESS FACTORS back when there were six classes. Go back to 6 classes and keep the other crap in place. Let the chips fall where they may and no whining allowed.

So 6 classes, multiplier, SF, and FBE?

Only issue is I like the 5-4's in. Allows teams to schedule the playoffs in the regular season.

Some great ideas out of all the veterans on here.

I'm not going to make football playoff suggestions, but just football in general suggestions.
- I'd like to see teams get a bye week during the season (I don't have a master plan, but I'm sure it can be worked out some way, other states do it)
- I'm also getting tired of the same schools not being able to find opponents and therefore end up going out of state to play games. It's fine if they want to play out of state, but when they're scratching and clawing to find an opponent in state it gets a little ridiculous.

The one state playoff gripe I do have however pertains to volleyball. (which by the way I have no skin in the game, but my younger daughter plays in middle school) Looking at the girls state brackets right now they seed them 1 through whatever and then when they pair them up they'll sometimes have the 1 seed playing the 6 seed (or some other seed but on occasion it's not the seed they are suppose to be playing if the bracket is done correctly) in round 2. This is done I guess for geographical purposes or because of who is hosting the regional. One word to describe this: Asinine. If you're going to seed them, then have them play who they're suppose to play otherwise just throw the damn names in a hat and have them play it out that way. You're making it unfair to teams who work hard all year to get a good seed only to have to play an even better team than what they earned. smh

Sometimes it's hard to tell if they don't understand the concept of seeding or just want it to be a number to fit their preconceived bias. Really, what's the point of even having a "seeding" if you adamantly ignore the obvious, ie: how good a team is?

Start the season a week earlier, just a matter of bumping up the season schedule up a week in the summer. Summer camp, 2-days, first game, everything a week earlier. Honestly with safety concerns that are arising, I wouldn't even be shocked to see the IHSA institute a mandatory bye week mid season in 5-10 years for all teams.

Will that happen, probably not.

I know Texas teams can schedule bye weeks and I believe they all have byes in their system.

In Tennessee they have what is called week 0.They start a week before the 1st regular season week(all the games count) then have a bye during the regular 9 weeks. So basically you'd have 10 weeks of regular season and everyone get 9 games.Indiana starts a week before Illinois so some Illinois teams can play Indiana schools
