Why exactly have y'all moved Massie to RT?

Don't tell me Virginia Tech, UGA and Bama were right when they told him he was not a LT.

They say he just wasn't picking up LT, and apparently RT fits him better right now. I don't expect him to play a whole lot at this point obviously. He's going to be there primarily for depth.

If we see an injury, I could see him thrown in there, but they'd probably put him in at RT and shift Jerry if an injury happened.

Honestly, it may be that they are looking to next year. Sowell will be a junior next year, and if they are comfortable with him at LT, they'll probably start Massie at RT next year after Jerry is gone, so they may be preparing him for that as well.

UGA, VT and Bama were all right when they evaluated him at RT and told him to put away the childish dream of huge dollar signs playing LT in the league. The John Holmes of college football got played by his Hargrave handler/pimp.

If telling him he would play LT, was the determining factor in his decision to come to Ole Miss, then a kudos to Coach Nutt.

How many freshman are told they would get a chance to play as a freshman? Im pretty sure almost every one of them, if Coach Nutt said you can play LT, and that is what Massie wanted to hear, then great job Coach Nutt. He let the guy try to play LT, and it didn't work out, and so he flipped to RT.

It doesn't really matter though, because he is probably a season away from helping us in any capacity. He just isn't ready for SEC football.

It don't take a Ole Miss Lurker to figure that out. Losing Michael Oher is hurting. Ole Miss, they always take hype to a new level.

You're probably right about some of our fans, but the reasonable ones expected Massie to come in and possibly give us help as a back up this year before being able to really help next year. O-linemen just don't come in and start as true freshmen.

Even if they kept him at LT, he'd still be backing up Sowell. I think they have determined that they are comfortable with Sowell at LT now for the future, which means Massie's likely going to start at RT next year.

got academically qualified to play and probably didn't have a lot of time to get in shape because he busy trying to finish classes. Its a little early to write him off as a bust at lt. He will have a good chance to end up at lt before he leaves school early graduates.

proclaiming that he is never going to be a successful LT? That makes tons of sense. Lots of college LTs start out at another position their freshman year.

That's a good point. Michael Oher spent his first year mostly at guard because it was easier to learn. I still think Massie could end up at RT next year if Sowell works out well at LT though.

You are speaking to the poster who has already declared Tyler Russell a likely transfer. I see many things (such as the clearance of Ricco that many doubted*). For instance, I see you sporting some rainbow sandals, red khakis, a rope belt, and a super sweep in the not-too-distant future.

* Pay no attention to the fact that the eventual outcome of my prediction would likely have happened naturally.

"Ole Miss, they always take hype to a new level."

Ole Miss fans didn't create the hype. The media created the hype after the Cotton Bowl. Specifically, I believe Kirk Herbstreit was the first to get the ball rolling when he put out his way-too-early preseason top 10 right after the bowls. Don't even pretend State fans wouldn't be milking the hype and attention for all it's worth as Rebel fans are doing. Hell, with the exception of patdog and a couple other posters, this board really over-hyped your boring win over UCF in the Liberty Bowl going into last season.

his future in the NFL?

If you missed that, you don't have to reply. Just pretend to have been away from the board awhile and show up later in another thread.

Hey, where did I say Ole Miss fans create the hype? I said you Prima Donnas take it to a new level. Learn to read.
