Okay, maybe we shouldn't take it to a personal level with Stans.

Last night I lost it over the game. We just did the same thing every time. 3 pt shots not falling, lets take 33 or so of them. That's just bad coaching. He should be getting in our players faces over this. Maybe make a statement like, "hey lets not shoot 3's as the first option. Lets be physical and get to the free throw line. Then once that stops working, kick it out and have Ravern sitting there looking towards the basket. so he doesn't have to move." <div>
</div><div>Put Riek in. Let's get his confidence up. I bet that big guy from Vandy wouldn't push that kid around. I know he looks pretty bad, but come one. He needs minutes to get the hang of it. If we are going to lose, I want it to be for a different reason than the other games. Lets try something different. Riek, Varnado, Turner/Gus, Randy/riley, and Bost. Starting lineup. Tell Riek to clear the way for Vernardo, and when he sets a screen, don't hold the guy like in the Georgia game. What ever we have to do.</div>

Your right, he does make Marcus Campbell look like Shaq, but look at it this way *** clown, we haven't lost a game that way. We don't have to play him much, but it would change the dynamic of the team. Get people in different positions, some of them could fill different team roles. Beats the hell out of run down the court and jack a 3 with 25 seconds on the shot clock. <div>
<div>On a separate yet equally important note, we could all just respond to people's post the typical way on this board, which I agree we should do and do often like this guys "Fail Fail 17ing Fail" post or maybe we should look at the obvious problems we have on offense and try something different. </div><div>
</div><div>Damn. </div><div>

hell I was, like many other people, completely disgusted with our offensive strategy yesterday. I am just trying to think about this situation with a different focus than the usual "kodi this and ravern that. Riek is probably not the answer, but we need to change our focus. It's way to easy to guard us. Play heavy up top, because we do not have someone that can back a center down and demand a double team.

Our problem isn't as much our inside presence. Yes Jarvis isn't the greatest offensive threat but if you watch our games we have four guys standing behind the arc and then we pull up one of our bad shots and all our guards run down the court. Even on defense the only guy we have trying to rebound is Jarvis, now I know that rebounding hasn't been our weekness but when you see that it shows how much of a lack of intensity our guys have. The only other guy that tries to rebound besides Jarvis is Phil. We should not be jacking as many threes and that can be coached but the intensity we play with comes from the heart and only two of our players have that. We will continue to get beat as long as only two players, Jarvis and Phil, are playing with energy. Everyone else look like they don't care and that is a problem.</p>

Is it better to lose a game due to taking it inside and missing/turning it overthan it is to lose one missing threes. We know our guys have not had any success taking it inside. However, we have seen this team shoot threes as well as any team in the nation. Any perimeter shooter in the nation will tell you theonly way to get your shot back is to keep shooting.

I won't say it is better to lose any kind of way, but when you are taking bad threes then yes its better to lose taking it inside and turning it over. When you are in a slump like we are in then why in the hell does any coach let players jack threes with 30 seconds on the shot clock and a hand in the players face. I will agree the only way to get out of a slump is to keep shooting however if you aren't shooting only when you are open then you will never get out of a slump because 3 point percentages decrease with a hand in your face so we should only be shooting when open and Stans should make that clear. Otherwise take the higher percentage shot inside. It was sad watching that game and listen to the announcers continuously laugh at us for jacking contested threes from 5 ft. behind the line.

They are currently 70th in the nation in 3 point percentage and steadily declining. They are shooting just under 29% in SEC play. I would hardly say that is "as well as any team in the nation". Ive never seen an entire team fall into a 7 game slump. They shot well in out of conference games because the quality of teams they were playing. I imagine they will finish the SEC at around 30% from 3-point range. That is about average for most teams. So no, I would not say they shoot as well as any team in the nation.

I have no problem with them shooting 3's as long as they are creating open shots. But that has not been the case in SEC play.
