but this seems silly. Am I to believe that our horrible white helmets and M-state will don a pink ribbon as part of the main logo?

http://mississippistate.scout.com/2/806953.html

I knew we were doing some things - pink ribbons on the field, etc. I knew that we were putting pink ribbons on helmets - but I envisioned small pink ribbons on the back of the helmet, not as part of the main logo. Do we just want to solidify ourselves as the laughing stock of the SEC?

You're not being insensitive. What in the hell good is a big pink ribbon on our helmets going to do for breast cancer or for our football team? If we really wear that logo on our helmets this weekend then even Byrne is a 17ing idiot.

We're doing this to make amends for the cluster17 that happened with women's basketball. For those of you who don't know, the SEC women's basketball teams wore pink/pink trimmed uniforms for a weekend to honor breast cancer - no problems with this at all. (See LSU: http://www.lsutaf.org/ima...6493082747a9c68a0e966.jpg)

Everyone did this except for deal ol' State. Seems LT did not like the look and would not approve it.

Again, no problem with the ribbon on the field, the wristbands, the ribbons at the gate - but the big pink ribbon on the side of the helmet is a little too much, in my opinion. A pink ribbon on back of the helmet is fine.

Sounds like you have never lost anyone to breast cancer. Congrats on that. The image of that pink ribbon certainly changes once you have gone through that battle with someone close to you.

I will be sitting with a relative that has survived breast cancer at the game. Why don't you paint a big pink ribbon on top of your car? Why don't we paint the entire field pink for the game tomorrow? Because there is such a thing as going too far with something. A big pink ribbon on our football helmets is going too far. I would donate money to breast cancer research just for them not to wear that absurd helmet.

That sounds just like something that would happen under Templeton's control. Pink ribbons for football helmets = dubmass idea. Pink uniforms for a women's team = a good idea.

what makes losing someone to breast cancer any worse than losing someone to stomach cancer or heart disease? The amount of media attention breast cancer gets compared to people's actual risk of ever getting or dying from the disease is totally out of proportion.

Couldn't we just hand these out at the game?

I've had it really close to my life - I am highly supportive of breast cancer research, but pink ribbons on football helmets as part of the main logo is a little far. Again, put a small ribbon on back of the helmet and we get as much accomplished.

I mean, let's face it - our unis are already ugly as ****, so it can't make them look any worse... and for the most part we play like a bunch of vages anyway, so no harm there either. Plus, it shows support for a good cause... it's a lot like NFL players wearing "GU" on their helmets or "21" on their jerseys all year. Wearing that isn't/wasn't going to make Gene Upshaw or Sean Taylor feel any damn better, but it shows respect.

Before the season began stated something along the lines of "I don't give a <17> what the uniforms look like as long as we win games!!!>

If we are playing like a bunch of sissy, commie, fairy, faggots, who cares about a stinkin' pink ribbon...

Cheers,
