Because pumpkin beer now takes attention away from Octoberfest beers. It burns me up. If I even smell one of those pumpkin beers I'll puke. So every Fall season, you'll see a plethora of pumpkin beer hard-ons in the beer stores. This world is going to hell.
Dear bro, you know I love ya and always will. But I like those spicy beers this time of year. Changes pace, so to speak. Just me, and you know I'm sorta on the other side.

Naw, I mean to a certain extent. That Good Gourd is incredible. But after handful I can done, because we sure as **** know what's coming in the winter season. Those non pumpkin spiced ales. I'm suprised no one has a brewed a potpourri ale. Just angry at pumpkin beers,

Yeah, I know. They brew it because they know many folks eat it up.

I need to get my *** back down your way and enjoy some Good Gourd.

Coming soon.

I forgot about the spiced ales. Fack! My brother wears a turtleneck and a sweater drinking that **** in a coffe cup. Grab an Oktoberfest and then you'll know how it feels to win

I have yet to try any pumpkin beer that didn't taste like they put a squirt of the pumpkin spice goo from Speedway in a regular beer. I'm not falling for it again this year.

West Sixth's Oktoberfest is very nice. I will be getting some more of that.

Edit: Stopped and bought six this morning. Better than I recalled. Poor sixer will be gone by dark. RIP.

Just tried a new Octoberfest that Sierra Nevada and Mahr's Brau teamed up to make. It's very good if you can find it. I also like Great Lakes and Marzen. But my go to is always Spaten.

One of the sadder things I've seen recently were stores carrying SA Octoberfest back in mid-July..

Everything about Fall sucks and Fall beers are no exception.. wake me up when it snows.

Will probably be labeled a simpleton by Beer Snob, but I love Sam Adams Oktoberfest as much as any of them.

Rhinegeist's Franz is my go to and Molly's had it on tap last year - hoping this year they do again.

Like Chad - Sam Adams' is very good also

Had Rhineghast and Great Lakes Oktoberfest beers this weekend. The Great Lakes was better, but neither were Earth shattering.

Spaten is very tasty.

Like Austin, I was disappointed with the Sierra Nevada version. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really taste like a marzen. Kind of rye spicy

I dunno. That Pumpking is Southern Tier. Gonna be honest again. LIke Stone. Southern Tier is on my **** list man. The only pumpkin brew I like is Cigar City's Good Gourd.

Southern Tier has a flavored beer series. Creme Broulee, salt caramel, oranj peel. **** taste crappy *** liquer. I mean it was slightly close to embalming fluid

All the once great brewers that sold out, now taste different imo. Mass production just doesnt work as well with craft beer.

Pumpkin beer is definitely terrible. And I love pumpkin everything else.

Craft Oktoberfest beers are all basically the same. Imports are the best, imo. Spaten or Hofbrau are my favs.

Pumpkin beer is amazing, shut your stupid mouth Willy. One of my favorite parts about the fall. Pumking and me are friends. Good Friends.

Ron. I wish you were close enough for a Good Gourd. Holy balls. It would be right up your alley.

Use to drink every imperial pumpkin beer that I could get my hands on. Think I'm jaded on them and have been trying to get back to Octoberfest style stuff lately

I'll be honest not a huge beer fan, more a scotch guy. When I do drink beer its usually one one or two and then I switch to liquor. But by far my favorites are pumpkin beers and christmas ales. Pumking and Great Lakes Christmas Ale are probably two of my favorites.

I think the Marzen style is what most oktober fest beers emulate and that might be my favorite style. If you haven't had some
Schlenkerla stop reading this right now and go find a bottle. It will change your life.

+1

World-class and ranks among my personal faves. It is the gold standard by which all others of the style are measured. I first sampled rauchbier during summer 1984 in Bad Orb, Germany. The beer was served to us in wooden mugs. I probably omitted this incredible beer as a choice because some folks detest the smoked flavor

I drank Saint Arnold Oktoberfest 2016 last night. Complex as usual. Gonna hit Samuel Adams Octoberfest later this afternoon.

Don't listen to this lying sack-o'crap. I know for a FACT that he bought some Schlafly pumpkin because it was on sale. Tasted like it was made by fermenting pumpkin pies, strained through a vat of pumpkin guts, seasoned with nutmeg, and then served in a jack-o-lantern. Enough. I'm done with it.

Sampled these two this week. The Ayinger is awesome just classic Oktober Fest all the way. The Upland is very good but has more lager character, which is ok but I prefer more malt forward beers for Oktober Fest.

I guess I should move this over here.

Update 3 new entrants, Victory, Left Hand, and Gordon Biersch

1. Knob Knee at the New Albanian (way ahead of the rest, maybe the best brown Lager I have ever had)
2. Victory real nice malt and Caramel flavor, same taste as Knob Knee, just not the same depth of flavor
3. Bells (really good, not surprised)
4. Schalfly
5. Gordon Biersch (smoothest one I have had if that's your thing)
6. Paulener
7. Rhineghast (Cincy local)
8. Goose Island (surprisingly good, but it was on tap instead of a bottle)
9. Sun King (OK)
10. Left Hand
11. Great Lakes
12. Sam Adams
13. Leinenkugels (meh)
14. Hofbrau Hous (this stuff tasted like Corona, surprisingly bad)

I saw that Upland today at my local store. I will try it next and throw it into my rankings. I am also going to grab the Ballast Point.

Rhinegeist's Franz and Braxton's Oktober Fuel are pretty good NKY/Cinci local OF beers.

I thought Franz was trash.

You think Hofrbrau tastes like Corona?
