It was aninteresting to read...
11/28/96 - A name you may want to remember for next year is
Dicenzo Miller, junior RB for Weir. In Weir's 32-6 win over Falkner, he carried the ball 31 times for 172 yards and 2 TDs and caught a 12-yard scoring pass. Source:

12/18/96 - The Ohio State recruiting page is saying that Dorsett Davis (not Dorset Davies as they call him) may commit to the Buckeyes this week. They received this info from Bill Kurelic, who is a midwestern recruiting analyst.
01/25/97 - How good is Kenvin Prentiss? According to former teammates of his, he doesn't drop a ball thrown to him and he can flat out fly after catching it.
02/06/97 - According to Coach Jackie Sherrill, the players Miss State signed in December and February 5th will give Miss State a great chance to play for the SEC championship. He said almost all of the players we signed will be able to play immediately. You can tell why just by looking at the 40 speed of these guys. Truly outstanding. The players that will have the biggest impact are as follows:

[*]
RB James Johnson, 4.5 speed - The number 1 running back in the Mississppi JUCO ranks.
[*]
WR Kevin Prentiss, sub 4.4 speed - The number 1 wide receiver in the entire JUCO ranks. A consensus All-American
[*]
WR Kevin Cooper, 4.5 speed - A preseason JUCO All-American candidate. Was hurt during the season. Now 100% as evidenced by his 4.5 speed
[*]
WR James Jones, 4.4 speed - An all-state player in high school.
[*]
OL Brad Elmore, 5.0 speed - Consensus All-American out of high school
[*]
OL Craig Moore, 5.0 speed - All-State JUCO in Mississippi
[*]
OL Anthony Kapp, 5.0 speed - The 17th best prospect in the New England area coming out of high school
[*]
OL Randy Thomas, 4.85 speed, 32" vertical leap - Number 1 OL in Mississippi
[*]
LB Edward Smith, 4.5 speed - Joe Lee Dunn calls him an impact player. Need I say more?
[*]
LB Jamaal Dinkins, 4.6 speed - The number 1 linebacker in Mississippi. The first player JL Dunn asked about when he was hired by Jackie Sherrill
[*]
LB Ellis Wyms, 4.6 speed - All-State his senior year. A tremendous all around athlete.
04/07/98 - I was wondering how long it would take before the Edward "Pig" Prather incident would be mentioned on the internet. There was something mentioned on one of the Ole Miss message boards, although it was far from being accurate. What really happened was as follows: Pig and a friend of his were in a car when they passed several guys, one or more of whom yelled out racial slurs. Pig and his friend took offense to this and came back later with Bradley Prather, Rico McDonald and several of their friends to find out why the guy yelled out the racial slurs. Bradley and the guy discussed the matter and it seems the discussion got a little heated and they began fighting. When several of the guy's friends got involved in the fight, Pig and several others came to the defense of Bradley. To make a long story short, an ambulance was called and one of the guys who yelled out the racial slurs was taken to the hospital. He was treated and released the same night. According to someone who talked to the EMT who was in the ambulance that took the guy to the hospital, the only thing hurt was the guy's feelings. Despite this, the guy decided to file aggravated assault charges against Pig, Bradley and several others. It seems the guy claims brass knuckles were involved, although there was no evidence to back up his claim. One of my sources told me that counter charges have been filed against the guy who filed the charges against Pig, Bradley and the others. My sources say, it is very, very likely all the people involved in the fight will either be charged with simple assualt (a misdemeanor which carries a $50 fine) or the charges will be dropped completely. Basically, all this was was a bunch of young men letting their tempers get out of control.

Before some of you began wondering if Pig Prather is a troublemaker, a source of mine talked to the Falkner HS Principal (an Ole Miss fan) about Pig and he said Pig is a great kid who never gets into fights. What is sounds like to me is Pig was baited by these guys and fell for it hook, line and sinker. From what I was told, he, and all the others are extremely embarrassed about the entire incident and will not let it happen again.
