The latest I heard was it was going to be a hibachi-sushi restaurant/ bar, but that just came from a student. Anyone else heard anything about this?

I think it's dumb if true, especially with sushi-martini right down the road. That building should serve beer, burgers, wings, and beer.

sorry if germans.

Lots of tv's. Lots of beer choices. And yes, I believe there is a sushi place by wal mart. And possibly one more.

Asmall group of us went there in the first couple weeks it opened...man that was an experience. We were the only ones in the restaurant, it took no less than an hour to work up afew plates for us, and itwas eerily quiet. They seated us in a seperateroom with a door(its an office building, that would have beena manager's office) and wesat at this brand new dining set.
What a trip.

The owners said they lived in Colorado somewhere and that after meeting a couple that went to MSU, they heard so many great things about 'Vegas that they just had to movedown and open a restaurant.

The story was so friggin nuts that i swear they were lying.

They may serve sushi, but with Sushi Martini right there, I don't think they will try to be a niche restaurant first. And say what you will about Bart Lucius, but I think he knows everyone is looking for a sports bar and will shape it up to be one.

and is now sushi and hibatchi relocated in the shopping center of brewski's.

Relative in law's nephew say old grill could be turning into sports bar and grill with pool table/dart board esque atmosphere run by same people as some of those tiny cotton district bars off university

Yes, Umi serves sushi and does hibachi now on 12. Sushi on Main and Martini Sushi also serve sushi (crazy, right?). From most accounts, the City Bagel people have purchased the old Grill location and are going to make it into a sports bar serving a variety of food, including sushi. If I'm wrong on the new Grill location and/or its ownership, anyone please feel free to correct me.

That's wrong. Unfortunately Robert Camp will be the primary owner/manager, but I have also heard that they'll serve a variety of foods ranging from sushi to burgers and everything else in between. Atleast, it will be open at night as a regular bar. It's a great location for bar and is certainly capable of making lots of money and doing very well.

Every poster is wrong. It will serve bar food and nothing else. It will have several tv's. They are also in the process of opening up the old porch (on the Maxwell side) and adding a balcony on top of it.

past the theater, it was Umi's. They moved to HWY12, added hibachi, and quadrupled their business.

If that were correct, Joe and Mary would make it into a bad *** place with a TON of premium beers.

Too bad they arent involved...

The place in undergoing a huge makeover and is owned by the same guy(s) that own Sushi Martini, the new liquor store in the Cotton District, and likely some other stuff that I'm unaware of. As Dawg152 said, it will be barfood. I just looked inside last night to see a big flat screen tv at the bar with smaller ones on either side. Tables have all been installed as well. Talked to some people working on it, they said it should open next Thursday.

Lots of unusual plans going along with this, I've heard. It's going to have a small dance floor and as Dawg152 said, a new balcony. Apparently the owners are really throwing lots of money at this and I've heard of some other really unique additions that are being planned.

If that dance floor gets popular, this place is going to make a killing.

They'll serve bar food and I do know that they are planning on making the front and open-air patio again, and also having a balcony on top of that.

the owner of sushi martini/magoya(sp) in oxford and jackson is turning the old grill into a variety of things. there will be hibachi, bar food, dance floor, pool tables, darts, and tv's galore. in fact the main one over the bar is 65'. so it's literally a bar with theme that's quite unclear. also, barrister's will be shutting down during spring break to be modified into a greek style restaurant/bar. similar to keefer's in jackson.<div>
</div><div>so yeah, there's the scoop. enjoy the two new bars in starkville, but as always... come to ptolemy's because that's what greg byrne would do.</div>

Cotton District Cafe will occupy the former Cotton District Grill Location it is owned and operated by Kyle Shanas and Jackie Lin, the general manager is Bart Lucius. Cotton District Cafe will feature at opening 12 plasma/lcd tv's geared ready for most any sporting event with great food, the smallest tv is 32' inches. The CDC will feature 10-12 draft beers, an assortment of liquor and beer. The theme for the CDC is something for everyone, customers will have options that will suit any ones likes. (Pool Table, Buzztime Trivia, Darts, and a small dance floor). For the biggest question "Hibachi?" Yes, there will be Hibachi, but it will not be like your average Hibachi (cooked in front of you) It will be an option on the menu just like burgers, wings, oysters on the half...all cooked in the kitchen not in front of the customer.

Hope this answers some questions and hope to see you all soon when we open!

Tons of people would love to stay in the Cotton District when it is cold outside or raining, but none of the bars that are currently open are really inside bars.

national wing shortage, due to all the copycats adding wings to their menus (pizza places, etc.), and that the total number of wings produced is basically fixed, because it's determined by demand for the whole chicken.

put another way, the demand for wings used to be far less than the demand for the rest of the chicken, now it's the opposite. 'boneless' wings are already cheaper at some places, and that's probably going to increase.

They are the only places that still buy the large and juicy wings.

All the chains have tried to cut costs. Buffalo Wild Wings has become just as bad as Pizza hut. You have to eat 75 wings to equal the meat on one chicken breast. It's absurd.

The Veranda use to have the awesome 25 cent chicken wing night on Mondays. Man I miss that.

The Jamaican Jerk wings at Veranda were so awesome... I would spend about 20 bucks there every Monday night and leave full and buzzed. $5 pitchers and $2 baskets of wings. Do they not have the wings on Monday night anymore? Or did Jay eat all of them?

Barrister's had like a month this summer with 25 cent wings and 50 cent wells--that might have been the best deal I've ever seen here.
