Pull those bleachers next Greg.

Edit: Just realized what scoreboard you are referring to. My mind instantly went to the old "jumbo"-tron

Here are 13 photos from todays trip to the football field...

First off the major change which had to come about sometime this week...(sixpack strikes again???)
The "high school scoreboard" on the seal club is gone...and the seal club is getting a once over with a new pain job.

Up next, well there was a sidewalk right here 2 weeks ago the last time I walked all the way around the field. I can only assume it's part of whatever they are building that will stretch from grandstand to grandstand.

Next, we find the plans beginning to come to form for what lies next...I have been there will be brickwork and landscapping done..and now we are hearing the strong rumors of a tunnel.
When I saw the spray painted markers on the foundation for the work to be done for the building of the new scoreboard..I though it was odd..
as why put down markings if it was going to be swept away when all of it was removed. We see now..its not all going to removed. They followed those lines
in a semi-circle as it had been sketched out. The first one shows a strong line ran mostly across the border where the former fence was...again likely for whatever they are building to connect the grandstands across.
The next couple show the parts dug out..to about a foot deep.

These next show a center line run from the center of the m-club.
One thing I found odd, was the spray painted line was only on the right side of the line.
While looking at this it made me realize just how far off-center the field is..and I think it would really look weird to have a tunnel sticking out and off-center.

In this last one, I attempt to highlight the path that has been dugout to see it all come together better.

Next up...Look at the changes in the 2 pictures. I took the 1st one exactly a month ago. The trees that were covered from painting are gone, all painting on the scoreboard is done, and now the small scoreboard is gone.

Last...someone asked about the Bully memorial last week. here it is at the 50 yard line.
I was wrong, the bushes don't seperate it..so the team could come over and rub it if they wanted.

And he's been the Bully since 2001.

Maybe y'all should off him and get a new one named Jerious.

the current Bully is named Tonka.

And the Dontae in question is Dontae Jones, not Dontae Walker.

the current one i believe is named tonka. i can't find the name of the previous mascot but they usually live out their lives in doggy retirement. i assume dontae died in 2001.

theres just something gruesome about seeing 'scoreboard' and 'seal club' in the same sentence. Notches on a pistol handle come to mind.

I think the reason why Dontae was around for only one year was that he had a problem biting people. I assume he had tender his resignation due a "change in philosophy were made around him and he refused to compromise on the values he believed in".

He was one of the many things that went wrong in 2001.

where as we regularlary retire ours and replace. And Harry Doyle is correct about the reason that Dontae was retired.

considering those aren't just letters but lights too..it's better left alone.
Unless you want them to chop the building off and leave it off-center and look like crap.

It's a sign (literally) of the old regime.

& not to take away from Seals charitable giving to the school by any means

but

it is the M Club, it's obvious it is a building.....I think the athletic department needs to adopt a signage standard for named giving that still honors the named donor in a more than acceptable manner, but, as in this situation, the donors name does not detract from the identity of the buildings honorary purposes. Basically what I am saying, is design signage in prominent locations that is in better taste. That signage serves its purpose now, & looks fine, but it could be better in the future. Say something to the proportions as follows:

L........E........O..............S........E........A........L
M...C..L..U..B

*****editied to add: the "LEO SEAL" was intended to stretch all the way across the top of the "M Club", but for whatever reasons the spacing does not appear in the final post ////Periods added for spacing......& it still doesn't show up right in the post, so whatever......some of you will get my point

we don't have that many millionaires out there putting there name on things around campus..
I say let it be as big as needed.
Especially with Seal, that man has helped build by last count what..6..7 buildings or renovations on campus.
R.I.P Leo Seal...The Bulldawg Nation thanks you.

*except for putting Larrys Name on the new athletic center...and letting the idiot put a white building in dead center of a baseball field.

But the scoreboards at basketball and baseball should say MSU on them somewhere.
