it happens to us when in Oxford, so why not?

ETA: if someone sneaks an air horn in, it would last all but about 2 seconds before a security guard takes it up.

So, just about as long as a cowbell lasts in Vaught-Hemingway?

I seem to remember the idea of air horns brought up back in the mid-90s just to spite the State fans for their cowbells. I even remember seeing someone use one during an Egg Bowl when I was a kid, but the idea never took off.

If it did, and if you even had 100 air horns get in the stands, the noise would make your ears bleed if they were used at the same time. Cowbells aren't nearly that loud. Air horns would be an awful idea.

An airhorn gets its noise from a pressurized can. As soon as the pressure is gone, the airhorn is worthless. The stupid things will be silent by the end of the 1st quarter. I bet no more than half a dozen of those fools actually brings one to the ballgame anyway. Leave to it to a Mississippi fan to come up with something so stupid.

and I agree, 100 air horns would cause near death experiences to all sitting around that area.

I was told by a UM coworker yesterday that a friend of his has purchased 1000 air horns and will be passing them out before the game.

There is no reason he shouldnt get enough emails to wear everyone will be aware and at least be looking for them. MSU fans are not allowed to bring cowbells into visiting stadiums so I dont know whey they should be allowed to bring anything into our stadium

anyone who would buy 1000 blow horns for a football game is a idiot and not the common ordinary brand of idiot.

Really? So some idiot is going plunk down $15-20,000 for air horns just to be a jerk. After that, we're supposed to believe he's going set up a tent or something to hand them out? And MSU fans aren't going to see this and put a stop to it?

Whatever. Your friend is talking out of his ***.

every visiting team that has come to Scott Field this year has come away victorious save JSU. So cowbells will have little to do with the outcome of Saturday's game.

Said he got them for $2 a piece and money isn't that big of a concern to him. I'm not sure how you think MSU fans could "put a stop to it." And honestly I don't give a **** what you believe.

it probably wont be easy to get even one air horn in the game so how exactly does this friend plan on getting a 1000 in? A black duffel bag wont look fishy at all</p>

Seriously air horns is the worst idea I have ever heard of. Cowbells are a tradition. Also, we have to shake them, not push a button like they would. Airhorns would run out fast, they would be taken up, and even the Ole Miss fans would want to stop hearing them after a minute or two. Worst idea ever, that would never catch on.

I also heard some people saying they wanna bring whistles...really? Those would be taken up quick and could just as easily hurt their own team just as easily as it would hurt ours. Whistles....what a bunch of idiots.

Perhaps you're forgetting the fan base in question?

Wasn't there a rumor that Bama fans were going to bring their own red cowbells to the game to out-cowbell us? We all saw how that panned out.

How will he keep from giving these $2 airhorns to State fans accidentally? These are things your friend needs to work out logistically.

How many Ole Miss fans do you run into on a daily basis? I'm here in Mississippi, and I can ASSURE you it's the hot topic. There was actually a brief blurb on WCBI sports out of Columbus about it on the 6 PM news.
