My guess is he was going to back up 3rd in case the runner at 2nd advanced and not actually stumbling. He was looking back to watch the throw and never saw the umpire

How could the umpire not avoid him? I put that on the umpire. Players have to be able to play and trust the umpires to get out of the way.

looks like the ump decided to speed things up. Two outside pitches called strikes on that Highfill at bat.

It all started with a leadoff 0-2 hbp to the 9-hole. But it feels like it could have been a lot worse than two runs.

I wanted Dotson to come into a clean inning. He needs to dig deep and give us two more innings.
